Firstly well done Voxace on the fantastic doco.. Everytime i undertake a modification, i cant be bothered stopping and taking photos of anything. Well done!
Secondly, i cant seem to find the same coloured wires in my plug??
My car is a 1996 EF Fairmont, and i can find the solid purple, the solid yellow, and the lightbrown-red wire, but i cant locate a purple-green trace.. i found a green wire-purple trace, and a pink-green trace, but cant find the purple-green trace wire the doco says.. The two wires that terminate off into their own plug are the pink-green trace, and solid purple in my loom. are these the ones i want???
Can anyone help me out??
Cheers

| I remember the wires on mine were the same colour as stated but I was confused as the colour of the wire was a bit crappy and faded. If you have a a workshop manual its helpful as you can eliminate the others, I just looked at the colours that were they and took the odd one out. |

the car should start as the auto to man resistor trick is only to stop the fans being on all the time.... (as so have read from many of the topics/threds) i couldn't start my old EB cause i forgot a loom so check all ya wiring and alike and see, check fuses and alike if not iam sure some one will help... or also go to search and type in car won't start.. there are plenty on here about that |

Hi all,
we are doing this conversion in an ED Falcon using a T5 from an EA, I have a questions if someone can help or point me to a thread that may cover this topic.
firstly the ED auto loom does not have the same coloured wires mentioned in the doco,
light brown with red stripe
solid yellow
solid violet
purple withe green stripe.
would appreciate if someone can tell me which coloured wires should be used.
thanks in advance.
Brad. |

Why would you want to swap the ECU's?
Just put the resistors in to convince the eb ECU that its in neutral and your good to go.
I'm running an auto EL ECU (that thinks it's in neutral) in my ea and it's great.
The EB likely has revised fuel tables etc.. so better off keeping the newer ECU if you can. |

there should be a small allen key bolt in the bellhousing that holds the clutch fork in position and the tension on the clutch cable holds it against the pressure plate..it shouldnt come out unless the fork is damaged or it wasnt bolted on properly before it was fitted..
im actually doing a 5 speed conversion on my ed today and the clutch fork doesnt come out unless i undo that allen key bolt.. |

MY GAWD... Boy oh boy - I was told this guy had a T5 that would be a straight bolt on to my EF. I bought it knowing full well that the bellhousing was different, but that was okay as I got the correct bellhousing.
Now my problem is simply that the box has 8 (EIGHT!) holes to connect it to the bellhousing and the housing itself only has four. The box looks to be taller and thiner at the front end, and none of the holes line up in order to get bolts through.
The bellhousing that came with the box uses the same fork and release bearing - it is definately a Ford part from an XF or maybe even earlier... Guess the five speed box must be ancient!
It has a cast steel or iron body where as I was expecting alloy the whole way around. MOST of it is alloy - just the main body where the gears reside within is steel...
Bad luck for me... Mind you, I should be able to make it fit to the bellhousing...
Can anyone shed any light on what the hell is going on here?!
Sheeez - If I had any money I would have just bought a complete ED manual already and be done with all this confusion! |

If your EB has smartlock, no.
You will need a EB2 or ED manual ECU to be plug n play. EA ecu may or may not work, due to smartlock on EB 2 onwards falcon's.
That's why i bought a ED GLI 5spd from the auctions, you get all the gear, including the electrical side of things. I just plugged in the manual gearbox loom to the main loom, and plugged in the ED manual ECU. Kicked it in the guts & all is good. It's just hard to find a complete parts donor!
Cheers
