| yeh, none of the pics in my gallery seem to be working, but their thumbnail views are, strange, and yes it would be a lot cheaper to just recon your motor and get an aftermarket turbo/supercharger setup. |

yeh but a lot more bragging rights out of the BA motor.
if you have a 5 speed allready you could have this in and running for well under 10 grand.
motor with loom,turbo,piping,intercooler ect. $6000
aftermarket ecu $1500
wiring and fittings ect. $250
radiator $250
tuning ect. $500
total $8500
less selling your old motor $500 - $1500 depending on what you have. |

what about installation though, that'd have to be a killer. do the engine mounts line up? |

yeah, installation into an EL might be difficult?
I heard a while back that AU and BA share the same engine and trans mounts? Is that true???

| i'm really thinking about doing this @ the end of the year switching my El XR6 engine for a BA XR6t engine and bits.. my goal is for a 300+kw car. I'v already converted the car to a manual and it runs so much better just from that, but if i can do all this for around $7000 (when selling my old engine), im going to just it a try |

engine will bolt in with a little cutting and welding on the crossmember
the same as you would with a AU motor.
the mounts bolt straight in.
and you would need to allow a fair chunk for install if you couldnt do it yourself. but if you wanted to try i would think there would be plenty of helpers here. |

| Is it true that if you modify the structural support of a vehicle, particularly the engine bay, that you need an engineers certificate before it can put on the road legally? |

| for the money you spend on doing the conversion it'd be cheaper to get your engine rebuilt with a big turbo and have the same + more output kw from it. |
