Hi all

As many of you know i got a ELXR6.
cam/mild porting/exhaust and intake ect....

I had it on the dyno about a month ago, unaware the bbm switch wasnt working. pushed 212 rwhp
Went yesterday to try again with some lil changes just to see the difference. This time with the bbm switching at 3750rpm.

Shocked look on my face when i saw the dyon results, 200rwhp!!!!!!!
Hit 3750rpm and kicked up really quick, but once it 200hp it went flat and stayed flat. also lost tourque after the initial spike.

*scratches head, so i thought the only thing it could be is to turn it back off.......225rwhp

Goes against theory, im sure its all working proplery and it shocked me to find this......

You realise if your EMS8860 was tuned with the BBM not working that you will need to re-tune the car with the BBM enabled?

The spark and fuel requirements are drastically different when the runners switch over.

yeah it was

origianly it was tuned to long runners full time.
theni figured out the bbm wasnt running rite so i fixed it and retuned everything above 3750 so it was all spot on again.

But the figure of 225rwhp was the map made for the working bbm, but only running the long runners.
Fixed that this morning tho, HEAPS better!

If its just set up for the long runners, thats why you're losing peak power.

Yeaaaaah, but if you have it set up so it switches to short runners at the correct RPM ~3300, and then spend some time with the fuel and spark maps above 3300rpm, you should have even further gains, thats why you are only getting a flat 200rwhp when it switches to short.

Ah F**k.

I'm just not with it. LOL

So you found that switching at 3750rpm did it for you? Any reason for taking it higher than the ~3300rpm set by the EEC ?

I get a massive dip in my dyno curves when the BBM switches over. I'd love to experiment and see which setup would provide the most power, with the least power drop.. whether its better to switch just before peak torque, or just after.

icon_razz.gif

yeah, i read thats where jmm move it too, so i tryed it.
Ill put up a dyno sheet to show you the difference when i figure out how to.

An example, driving in wet (P-Zeros, f**k sticky) in 2nd.
flored it from 2500rpm, total traction from speed.
Hit 3700rpm and kicked the rear end out about 3 foot!!!

is that with the BBM working, or not?

If it is with the BBM working, I wonder what the effect would be moving it up or down 500rpm.. whether you would suddenly kick at the switch RPM, or whether it would remain at 50rpm below switch point.

with it on
It kicked the back out as soon as it opened!

on the dyon graph, it jumps about 15hp within 30rpm!! then stopped at 200rwhp

You need to see the graph, its crazy

just remembered, when driving hard i usally rev to 6k. When pulling next gear it fell back onto 3700rpm ish. SO it seemed premo for driving hard.

Where is this switch for the BBM on an EF? I'm guessing your not talk about the piping from the airbox because the EL just has the one? Got pics of what your talking about after the throttle body?

Cheers.

I know nothing about this BBM stuff your talking about.
