Cheers Guys.
Thanks for the support.
The other week I picked up an almost new tyre at the wreckers. It is a Nankang EX500 225/50/16. I got it for $30.
I called around, and Bob Jane could supply a matching tyre new for $120 and quoted me $30 to fit and balance the other tyre. I said I also had another tyre, a Sonar 225/50/16 to go on my spare rim, which is a FTR I scored off Bunter for $60 a couple of weeks ago.
So all up I was looking at dropping around $180 the whole job. Pretty good I thought.
I was chatting to the guys at Bob Jane about the car. They liked the interior and engine upgrade, and commented on how they don't see many 'old' cars like it around anymore.
Funny, I don't consider the EB 'Old'. But I guess it is 16 years old.
They finished the job, and I went to pay the bill, and he asked how many tyres had to be disposed of. I thought to myself, there goes some more cash for mods.
Then he said, that will be $126 thanks. We won't charge you for the fit and balances.
Yipeeeeeeee.
Thanks Bob Jane Blacktown. You guys are champs.
Next mod.
Hopefully slotted rotors all round along with EL rear brakes.

Yep i dont think an EB is old but then again i dont think of the XD as being old *L*.
Have you thought of doing the dash surround black like the EL GT i think it would tie in nicely with the black you have added already to the interior the only thing to weigh up is if it would be to much black.
But IMO i think it would look good and suit your theme. |

Well hello all, once again.
I have been a little quiet for a while, but have been busy adding small things here and there. The one item I have been waiting for arrived today, so I took the opportunity to get some pics.
I have added some bling to the interior. I scored some chrome handles at the right price, along with a chrome shifter stem. I already had a chrome handbrake button, which I hadn't fitted. The final piece of the puzzel was a new leather gear knob with chrome button. Not any ole grey gear knob though. I managed to get my hands on a brand new EL GT Black Perforrated Leather gear knob. whoo hoo.
The other things added to the interior are, an NF dome light, and I painted the Fairmont dash spear satin black. The photos also show the carpeted kick panels.
NF Fairlane Dome Light
Chrome Door Handle
EL GT Gear Knob
A couple of overall shots
There are a couple of things I want to do to finish the interior. I will be painting the transmission selector surround Satin Black, along with the Stereo surround. This should give some balance and highlights I am trying to achieve.
The other mod I am currently working on is installing an NF Fairlane Cluster. This involves making a new adapter loom to plug into my existing adapter loom, as well as fitting the switches to the door locks and running wires to the cluster fromt the doors, boot, and fuel flap for the door ajar feature to work. The other function of the NF Fairlane cluster is a bulb out feature, which itentifies if a brake or park light bulb is blown.
Oh, I also have some Ghia Door Lamps I will be installing soon.
Pics of those when they are done.
Thanks to Snap0964 the door looms and door ajar switches are already installed, Cheers Mate. Snap also refurbished the lettering on the Power Window switches, so they look brand new now. Many thanks once again.
In other areas, I installed some new spark plugs. I bought some KLG 3 Prong plugs. At first I had a miss at idle, then realised I hadn't gapped them. So after gapping them, all is good, no miss. With the new plugs, the car pulls a lot harder. I am surprised how much improvement there is from just a set of spark plugs. I will do the Leads soon too.
The EB has passed the Pink Slip for another year, and is registered again untill June 2009. Woot.
Cheers

Hey ben, is that interior light a plug and play thing, or swapping plugs or something needed?

Thanks Guys for the kind words.
Andrew, there is a tiny bit of wiring to change, but it is pretty easy. One of the wires off the NF plug needs to be earthed to the roof. The NF factory loom has an earth wire where the EB Fairmont loom doesn't.

Good pickup on the NF bits. |

Cheers guys for the comments.
I have been working on a couple of projects over the last few weekends. I finally got it all finished on Sunday.
A BIG thanks goes out to snap0964 for his time and assistance with both projects.
These photos do not do justice to the amount of work that goes into getting it to work properly.
Yep, that is an NF Fairlane cluster. There is a fair bit of work needed to be done.
I had to make up an adapter loom to plug into my existing adaptor loom for the normal guages to work. And the doors were disassembled and the Lane Door Switches plugged in to the door locks. We ran wires out through the factory door looms and while it was apart, added plugs for the other mod. I then ran wires from the doors around the car to the cluster for the door ajar function to work. It is soooo cool watching the doors, fuel flap and bootlid symbols light up.
The other mod was adding Ghia Door Lamps to the doors. I have to say that this is one of the most practical mods I have done. The lights really make a difference at night.
These photos also showed the Fairlane armrest on the drivers door, and the rear map pockets.
Other bits and pieces added include EL rear window switches (grey) and an EL cupholder, power window switch. The grey is a lighter colour than my old EF one and matches the console much better.
Here are some overall shots of the interior as it is now.
There are still plenty of mods to come, including some added ventilation to the bonnet, something for my left foot to do, and some additional poke for the EL engine.
Cheers
