Absolutely no need.
BOV simply bypasses air out that would otherwise be forced into the engine, causing it to surge, splutter, stall at idle. They are open with vacuum, shut with 0hg vac/+boost.
Basically, you could plumb one up but it wouldnt actually do anything - it'd probably suck air IN at idle instead of bleeding air OUT. |

If its just for the wank factor, you can get an electronic show off vlave which sounds like a real one. But anyone that would put that on their car is a...

| If we were to put one in, we would run the gases that get blown out and plumb it back into the intake. Just want the sound they make |

Yeah, see that's the thing. Without a supercharger (turbos are simply exhaust-driven superchargers) there is no "additional" air in the intake plumbing. As such, there would never be anything blown out as the intake will never go above atmospheric pressure.
That is the only time a BOV makes noise, when it opens and the compressed air in the intake is forced out through the valve (as the throttle body is closing at the same time). |

| Its not for my car. I would never put one on unless i had the blower to go with it. Its for a mate, and all we want to do is experiment with it. Thats it, if it becomes to much then we would take it off. Its for a Subaru RX |

Much cheaper, easier, and you get higher street cred if you just make the noise with your mouth. i do it all the time. What you can also do is get a bunch of ya mates in the car to do the same. More mates you have the louder it is. Fcukin sick mate. The chicks love it. Just make sure yr mates don't make the noise at the wrong time, thats just gay. What you could do is get a big red LED, or better yet about 4, put 2 on the pilots and co-pilots head-rests, and two more on the dash, and wire them up to a switch on your tb, so when you let go of the throttle they all light up and all yr mates know that it's time to make the noise. and you get even higher street cred cause you got 4 fully sick shift lights. chicks love this. more lights you have more chicks you'll pull. This system can save you lotsa money on your exhaust too. you don't have to get one at all, just make the engine noises the same way you make the whooosh noises. fcukin sick hey. But don't forget to wind all yr windows down so other people can hear ya.
DennisRB30.... whats the rb30 stand for? hehehe, seriously, is it boosted? Whats it in, VL, skyline or something else? got pics? |

| Na, its in a skyline non turbo, I wouldn't buy a commodore. its going in the bin in place of a 1JZ or 2JZ. Its a good motor, its done 350 000kms and still does a 15.9 near stock. You may be wondering why I bothered testing it, but I want to know the before and after times with the engine conversion. I'm bored with all the RB20 and RB25 conversions. The toyota engines are heaps better and cheaper. Turbo ford I6's kick a*** too. |

For your mate? experimenting? dont do it, if you want to be called a Ricer, among other foul, objectionable language, tell your mate he is a F...head. Cant afford the WRX, so wants to be like one, bet he has taken off the RX badge, and put a WRX one on, this is the stuff of 10 yr old wannabes. Go to any aftermarket parts mob, they cater for all sorts of morons these days. |

| Nice, should be a monster. Did ya ever think of the rb25/26DE head conversion onto your rb30 bottom end? I've seen a few with great results. But yeah, the toyota engines are great, you can't really go wrong. you're not a member of any skyline or nissan forums are ya? Are you gonna document your conversion? because i'd love to keep track of it. You don't see a skyline with a toyota engine every day... altho there is a supra with a nissan engine but thats another matter. |

Well, its not 100% definite yet but I am serious enough that I drove around today trying to find engines to measure and spoke to an engineer and I have the cash. The prob is the exhaust on JZ engines is on the other side to RB engines, and for the exhaust to fit, the auto gearbox has to be small enough to let the exhuast pass it. I think it should be OK though. I have already got the engineers OK on the 1JZ, but I will have to ring him again to see if the 2JZ will be OK. I am using autos because they are several THOUSAND dollars cheaper. OH, yeah the RB30 with twin cam heads are sweet as. But expensive becuase they would be a gound up build requiring turbo, computer injectors etc etc. Auto 1JZ $2000, auto 2JZ $3500-4000. I will pay the extra for a 2J if it fits, and I hope it does. Either engine with auto will bring 12's, mildy modified auto 1600KG 1JZ soarers can do low 13's!!!! Whoo hooo!!!! I'm exited lol Yes I am in a nissan skyline club, it does not bother me if it bothers them.

| Yeah, makes sense. the reason i was asking about the rb25 head conversion is because i forgot you live in the eazy plate state. over here the rb25de conversion would be cheaper as you wouldn't really have to get it engineered, and here engineering costs $1400. And the reason i was asking if you were in the skyline club was so i could track your updates. I doubt anyone would be bothered by your conversion, after all it's a JZ. |

Yeah, man. Most guys like the idea and some are saying the RB25 is better (they are dreaming) and others say it will be a lemon. If I do it (and I will be trying hard to do this) I will either do it on the R31 forums or Performance forums. Or maybe the Oz skyline forum. I will document it in anycase.
And slightly more on topic, I will be using the stock blow off valve to minimize the gay PSHHST noise. As they say "horses for courses" |
