Im putting a cam in my ef and want to know what rev range the 1636 works in.
People seem to think this is a good cam.
I have extractors,2.5 zorst and cat,3.45 diff, cai, vernier gear.
I want a cam that works with the stock convertor.

It will suit your mods well, as its a medium rev range cam. Any bigger and you would start looking at a shorter diff ratio, & maybe HD valve springs

The Wade 1636, from what I have heard, is a decent cam. It will give you power mid range as FordFairmont mentioned up until top. Not sure how big of an improvement.

I have the 1673 cam and the power kicks in at about 2500RPM up until rev limiter. So I would assume the 1636 will do the same thing but just not as much power as the 1673.

phong =P~

btw, from what you mentioned in the other thread, you will need an AU cam ground to 1636 specs...... not the actual 1636 cam.

I think its the 1502 or something but you will have to talk to Wade cams for specifics

Yeh, min would be the 1673 in the AU version IMHO. I've got the 1673, and its not enough IMO.

OK. The 1636 wade cam starts working from 2500rpm but realy kicks in at 3000rpm. Ive reved my engine to 5500rpm. Just got my car dynoed today & made 128 rwkw with 370nm of torque.
Max power at 160kph approx 4700rpm & after that rpm the power flatens out which is good. The dyno operator (Jim at Dart Automotive) said to me that he had a JMM dev 5 el & made on his dyno only 134rwkw. His dyno is not hp/kw friendly. I am very happy with this cam & i drive my car every day to work & back home. Just i last thing below 2500 very ordernary but when it hits 2500-3000 it is like a switch revs & goes like a rocket.

If you want a cam with low end power i would suggest the camtech cam stage 1 or the wade 1004-1604 cams. I can't speak for the wade 1004-1604 cams but i had the camtech stage 1 cam. The camtech cam had loads of torque & power low to middrange rpm.

you will find when compared to the larger Wade cams, the 1636 feels like it has heaps of grunt below 2500rpm.

Thats what i needed to hear, thanks for all the helpful replies.
I have only dealt with crossflow cams in the past and i know how crap a motor feels if the cam is too big for the convertor, this is the primary reason for wanting a small cam.
I just wanted to find out where some of these wade cams come in because the specs between crow and wade are different and wade dont advertise a working rev range(helps to make a choice if you know what revs the cam works in)
Anyways thanks again and ill probably be looking at a reasonably small sized cam until i get a stall(it is the missus work car haha) icon_biggrin.gif
