hey guys it's been a long weekend.
first of all a tip for anyone respraying the interior.
don't forget to spray the plastics with primer.
we forget to spray the front pillars (which dont come out) with primer.
so today it was all cracked.
and as you can see in the photos, we covered everything from head to toe in tape and plastic bags.
so once you've taken it all out (which mind you, took hours to put in) and you find you forgot to primer it, you tend to get pretty p****d off!
so the pillars are going to be re-done this week.
pretty much everything else went smooth.
the dash looks insane (pics soon when everything has dried and been put back in).
here's a few pics of day 1 and 2!

| Maybe when you take the trim apart and unstich it all use them as a template and might work out easy for ya

The only way I know how is to remove the steel hook retainers that hold the covers in place. Once they are removed you should be able to just peel them off...or unfold them off. If not, attempt cutting the threads with a sharp knife...that way you don't have to undo the stitches one by one once the cover is off...2 birds with one stone.

oh cheers mate!
cos im going to completely take everything out of the car, all seats.
i know the retainers are on there, and ive been told that its expensive buying a machine to re do the retainers.
so id just use some other way of keeping them in once i put the new interior on.

I just used pliers to put them back on...did that trick on the EA lol

| blwn EF use small cable ties instead. much easier then hog rings!! but hog ring pliers arent too dear these days.

remember if you cut the covers off you then have to somehow get them back on. so you would be better off undoing the clips and taking it off as an auto trimmer would so you know exactly how they go back on.
if you go leather i hope your skilled with it so you dont end up with loose sagging leather which looks dodgy

ive got everything all sorted!
ill be taking off the trim properly, so if i need to put it back on ever it'll be okay.
ive got a supplier lined up.
hopefully it'll all be done in 3-4 weeks!
so keep an eye for a post

not too bad mate.
looking good so far.
im hitting all mine in one go.
getting all the seats done at the moment, should take a few weeks.
black with grey centres and XR logo in black on the grey middles (4 seats)
the rest u can see in the photoshop image up top!

Only thing mate - You could look at doing the top of your centre console box!!! That damn gray!!! And I HATE the door armrest bits on the bloody cars, you can't do anything with them..! Need to find a wrecked LTD Ghia thing and get some different style going on.

Do you know of a way to colour carpet (I am on a budget and am NOT getting a whole new one made)...?

Well, no I hadn't seen your car gooseman, but I am amazed how similar it is to what I am doing 
WHAT DID YOU USE TO BLACK THE BOTTOM PLASTIC OF YOUR FRONT DOORS? I left mine gray as am worried about the paints being removed by feet rubbing on the door pockets.
Okay - Any advice on changing the carpet colour?
ALSO - Very interested in your steering wheel... Let me at it, I want one...
(I know, someone doesn't like linking to individual files, for some reason, but it's only one picture.... God rest my soul....)

Just buy new carpet buddy. It shouldn't cost anymore than $140 for a full front and rear set. There is really no other way around it.
And just use Septone Plastic and vinyl paint for everything!! It works a treat if you do it right. I only did a little bit at the start just to make sure it wasn't crap and then I did everything! Even the doors. I swear that my plastic scratches before the paint does. It works like a dream. I've done the hard plastic as well as the softer vinyl and it sticks to both surfaces great. It dries nice and fast as well.
Just make sure you surface is clean before painting! I wiped down the surface with a very small amount of thinners and made sure it was dust and crap free then gave it a tack coat of this and then two or three good coats once the tack coat had dried. The paint wears really well. The place where I rest my arm on the door has not yet rubbed off.
As for my wheel. If you want one then you better start saving your pennies!

luke (light blue xr, cream interior, turbo set-up) has helped with the paint, so i'll be going down today to see how much i can get them for.
as for the wheel, i'll leave the stock one on for now.
that'll be the last thing i do!
knox auto carpet is down the road, so i can get a full set of carpet done there.
which wont cost too much at all!
im pumped to get this started.
