well its good to see that some 1 knows inside & outside of a falcon I6 wise but its good to see Brad converting the FAIRMONT to a 5Litre as then he will get more knowledge on the motor that is rare as rocking a*** s**t compared to the I6 I liked the I6 but nothing beats the sound & torque of a V8 |

Just a quick thought!
Are the ECM loom plugs the same for I6 and V8 in the EBII and ED?
ie will my ECM (EBII manual V8) plug into the ECM loom in the dash board of the ED ghia , which is an I6?
Important to know before attempting this I reckon.

It will probably plug in as they share the 60 pin connector but a V8 EEC-IV will not control a 6 cylinder engine. |

Hey Waggin,
The saying is 'good thinking 99' from Maxwell Smart.
Not 69, you dirty dog.
Made me laugh anyway. |

My understanding is that the dash looms in I6 and V8 are the same. I hope it is, else my V8 conversion just got a whole lot harder |

will the full dash loom from a gia dash plug into the existing engine loom at the plugs that join the dash loom to the rest of the car ? and just run the extra wires from there for the tacho and what ever ? |

Oh rightio. I beleive he wants to upgrade to the luxury of fairmont.
He'll gain climate control, trip computer and a mid series cluster. |

Assuming it all works out, all the ancillaries will be for sale
ie BEM, HVAC, clock and dash itself including loom.
Already hav the mid series cluster as it is an XR8. Only 160,000 on that baby so will retain that!
The bottom of the dash is slightly damaged around the fuse box, but the top crash pad is good as gold.
Will be a fair old while before I commit to selling tho.....
Want to make sure everything works out ok. |

I'd like to see some pics of the BEM which comes out of the XR8! Infact, make sure you get lots of pics of the whole conversion. I'm sure it will all go quite smooth. Its only when you start mixing and matching gear from different makes/models that it gets a bit messier. |
