I assume from the fact that it has not been mentioned, noone has seen that a guy has chopped and modded his 92 EB XR8 and it is now a Coupe? Would you like to see pics??? Am trying to get him to email them to me and will post them up ASAP...

Do I get brownie points for this?

If not, money will do.....

Dunno if thats it - haven't seen it yet - plus I'm under the impression its a coupe, not convertible.

Is that a USC sticker on that red thing - I used to work for them, bloody expensive spoilers and body kits.

it's not a photoshop, it's genuine, and AFAIK, it used to be in the Rockhampton/Gladstone area, but that was a few years back....

Here are a few more pics guys. The guy is selling it again for $8000, needs to be engineered. He states specs as follows:
Ford 1992 EB Coupe Professionally modified, 6 cyl turbo, 5 spd manual. Rebuilt motor: pistons, rings, bearings, billet turbo cam, heavy duty valve springs, copper head gasket, 700 roller bearing turbo, 45mm waste gate, 3in exhaust, heavy duty clutch. New diff, suspension, interior, 2-Pak orange/white paint, ED XR8 front end, 300kw, all new, can be engineered,

So how much would it cost to get engineered? Would rego be particularly more for it due to it being custom? I hate to even consider insurance....but considering he reckons he spent $50,000 on it, if you buy it for $8000 I'm pretty sure you could get it insured for $8k pretty easily.
So who wants to give me a couple of dollars - you all do that I can buy it....although the colour is a bit 'habib style'. Not a bad run around to turn heads. Can you see yourself taking that on Fordmods cruises?

I can't believe the guy hasn't sold it yet for $8000. I mean s**t, some people would pay not much less than that for an immaculate modded XR6, let alone this custom thing.

As I've asked (and not been answered yet), whats involved and what is the cost involved in getting something like this engineered??

I wonder if he'd take $5000. Me thinks not.

Thats the thing. If it is hard to get it registered etc, people may not consider it. My opinion is to get someone with the qualifications to come with you and inspect it or something like that if you want to buy it. When it was on Ebay, because of the fact that it needs to be registered, people may have thought the risk factor is too much, therefore avoiding it. If i had the cash tho, I certainly would have got it.

Exactly - I don't know why these people go to so much trouble with customising these vehicles but leave out doing the most important thing - ensuring prospective buyers know its legal and roadworthy. I've heard its not terribly expensive to get a car engineered (especially in comparison to what people spend on it, like this guy), so why not do it, register it and it would be SOOOO easy to sell. Maybe the answer is clear - it won't pass....
