I have recently racked some speeding fines, and will now be having a hefty license suspension icon_cry.gif

i was wonderng if there is something i can get in aftermarket shops or from another model ford that can be installed into the dash and can be set at a certain speed that blips at you when you go over the set speed. I want this coz om 'konsentratin' icon_razz.gif Plus havin dodgy ball joints makes it wander a bit, so extra 'konsentratin'. (i shall be getn that fixed soon)

What/where should i look?

Thanks
Ben

If your going to speed do it away from the cops so you dont have to look at the speedo.

Yes thanx for the input there ladz icon_wink.gif

I will check out the VDO & jaycar options.

Yessir, no s**t, i should be watchin the speedo, but I cannot be F**k lookin at the speed everytime i go down a hill or go up a hill, cruise control i spose might do the same thing, maybe thats what i should get.
I have trouble steering, maybe a bull bar too?

And another longshot: Anyone know the pinout on the ecu that gives the speedo signal or does it not work that way?? Please be generous and give to the tard foundation (woa im owning myself, mmm yeh)

Bloody smart a*** icon_confused.gif

Mate I copped three fines so far (minor ones but fines none the less). If I didnt have a license I would nt have a job so I just started being really careful (I got one point left on my P's, get my other 3 back in July).

I would rather cop s**t from my mates for doing the limit then speed everywhere all the time. Thats all I suggest.

After a while you develop a sense of your car. I can accerlate to 60kmh and stop there without looking at my speedo.

Just gotta be careful man.

Change your tyres for some 12" mini moke steelies. Then you're driving everywhere at 140 kph.

Yeah I've had a run in with the rozzers, not going to be donating any more to the "government"

Yeah, its not like I cant drive without it, it would just be a handy reminder that there is a speed limit, i dunno icon_lol.gif

But yes 5 points in the last fortnight is a good reminder for now, but 8 months down the track i know ol get complacent. Something beeping at me or even the electronic bit running a mosfet with a airhorn mounted in the cabin to tell me im going too fast would help.

VS and VR commodores have speed alerts in them, maybe one from a v6 could be made to fit? Theyre taller than the hole in the eb dash, but that hasnt stopped anyone before icon_biggrin.gif

Man, how hard is it to do a constant scan of your instruments... its not like you have to 'stare' at the speedo all the time... just develope a routine, every couple of seconds do a quick speedo check, then eyes back on the road... then do a mirror check, eyes back on the road...

It ain't that hard to stop yourself from speeding...

And if your doing the limit, you should be able to tell if your getting faster or slower by feel... sound of the engine RPM... stuff like that...

Don't cop out on speeding fines as the excuse 'I have to watch the road 100% of the time'... if your car is causing that much trouble that you CANT possibly take your eyes off of the road for a split second, then you got bigger issues.

Best thing I found to prevent myself from speeding is cruise control. I use it everywhere in all speed zones. No fines in several years.

Yeah crusie control helps.

Also if you do a fair bit of driving you should know where cops usually sit.

Just slow down downa round there.

And watch the speedo its the besta nd cheapest tool you got.
