|
|
Hi I am from South Africa so please bear with me.
Information and spares for my EF is in short supply.
Just done a minor service on my EF, plugs, fuel filter, oil, oil filter & air cleaner. When Driving in 1st gear no problem up to 5000 rpm, but from 2nd gear after 2000 rpm the engine makes a funny niose, the rpm is climbing but the car's speed is not increasing.
Could it be that the gearbox oil pressure is too low(haven't checked)
or is it something totaly different.
Please guys give me some info. |

| Check the fluid level in your transmission, IIRC the two bands in the box are 1/3 and 2/4th, does it do the same in 4th gear? how long since the tranny was servivced, with a full flush, normal servicing only takes out 4 litres of fluid, when there is 10 litres in the tranny, the other 7 being held in the convertor. |

No idea when it was serviced. Bought the car about a year ago.
I'll check the tranny.
If it is not the cause what else could it be?
One more question, I'm looking to get a workshop manual
for my EF. Which one is better?
Haynes or Gregorys, or something else ? |

If you have plenty of money go for a genuine ford workshop manual, if your like most of us, either Haynes or Gregorys, I prefer Gregorys they at least use illustrations from the correct car. Haynes use a lot of generic ones. Gegorys also give you a lot more specs & info. where as Haynes are written for the home mechanic and if they believe a repair is beyond the capabilites of the home mechanic they give you no info except to take it to a qualified repairer. |

| Yeah sounds like a transmission issue, possibly the torque converter |
