HELP,
I have an intermittent starting problem with My 95 EF Fairmont.
When I turn the ignition on the cooling fans go on to full speed - the engine cranks good but the engine will not fire.
I cant take the car out as it will only start very occasionally. Somehow the problem is linked to the fans because when the fans dont start up the engine starts & runs ok.
Any ideas? |

With EF/ELs, the thermos turn on (and stay on after self test - about 1 spin) if there is a problem. I get that sometimes, but my igition system isn't happy about all the engine mods I have
Try:
Check the relays (near airbox) to see if they are faulty.
Check all temperature sensors - might have bad earth or resistance and the computer thinks the car is overheating. |

Im guessing faulty battery, or low charge in it
I drained my battery recently playing music all day while working on the car , and when i went to start it the fans came on at full speed but the motor barely cranked.
Im guessing the fans coming on is some sort of signal maybe for low voltage? |

Thanks a million for the replys. I have my wheels again.
Turned out to be a power relay hidden underneath the plastic radiator tank. We addes an extra engine earth strap for good measure.
