Four V8 Supercars were involved in a road accident in Bahrain when the carrier truck transporting them was forced to come to a sudden stop on the highway leading into the circuit.
A flat top truck carrying the Commodores of Holden Racing Team's Mark Skaife and Todd Kelly as well as the Falcons of Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards was forced to brake heavily, causing the cars to shift and make contact with each other.
It is possible, though it has not been confirmed, that one of the cars fell off the truck completely.
The incident happened at about 0900 local time (1700 AEST) on the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway - the main stretch of road from Bahrain International Airport to the Bahrain International Circuit.
It is believed another vehicle had pulled out in front of the carrier, causing the accident which caused major traffic delays in the area.
The extent of the damage to the vehicles is not known at this stage but it is not believed to be extensive enough to rule them out of the Desert 400 round starting Thursday.
V8 Supercars Australia CEO Wayne Cattach is expected to hold a press conference later on Wednesday as more details come to light.

| Its just a shame skaife wasnt in one of the cars on the back of the truck, and his car caught into flames. |

hey skaife may be a C**k smoker and all
but this is not a way for him to not race
sure if he f**k up on the track sucked in
i would prefer him not to race but not in this way
hope all cars can be fixed and we have a good race weekend! |
