EF came with White, EL came with Orange, (except for NL/DL Fairlane/LTD which were always white)

Not sold seperately as far as I know. Best bet would be to try a Pick-and-pay-more auto parts yard, or a wrecker to get a cheap cluster.

If you want to change the orange needles to white....

1) remove the needles
2) sandpaper the back with 2000 Wet and Dry
3) paint with white nail polish
4) use acetone to correct your mistakes.

Easy as!!!

If you want to make white needles orange......

1) dont.

I would actually try the above procedure, but use orange nail polish...

Ugly Igley, why do you don't recommend changing white needles to orange. What color would be best with white face dials???
I did not even think of using nail polish icon_idea.gif

have you got a specific theme going in you car at all? i.e. have you changed anything to red/green/pink/blue or whatever? if so, maybe continue that?

red needles might look ok... what about black? or you *may* have lighting issues with darker needles at night?

The back lighting will be orange to tie in with the od/trip part of the dash etc.,
I bought some white face dials.

Do the needles just pull off?
Is there any way of getting it back on lined up perfect or is it just a guess?

yep the needles just pull off. best bet would be to mark where the needles were sitting before you pulled them off, so you can refit them in the same place - maybe use a piece of masking tape or something so you don't mark the dials at all

Then I would definitely go orange.

It was just a matter of personal choice to not go orange, but if that is the theme then orange will be perfect.

Using nail polish allows for mistakes to be simply wiped away with acetone, which is better than having to resand everytime you make a mistake....

nup. I have changed the orange dials on a EL to white for the Blue dash mod with no problems, if you are unsure then use nail polish remover that is acetone free....

Acetone is abrasive on plastics, some more than others. I've seen some plastics literally melt when acetone was applied. Be careful and experiment on some unseen bit first.

Do the AU needles pull off?

I have tried before, and it seems that the whole thing will snap and that it's not supposed to come off.

If I could get the needles off, I would do a dash light upgrade for sure, it just seemed as though they would brake.

Looks good.

If you wanted white needles, you could always just get an EF cluster.

Can we get a night shot. How does it light up. bright dials, with dark numbers/marks. Or do the marks only light up??

2KM/H marks sounds like a good idea.
