well after my car was sitting out in the sun today (we actually had a pretty warm day in vic!!) get in to drive home from work for lunch and driving along the inside mirror falls off!! luckily didnt break the glass but now the question is how to get it back on.. can you just use superglue etc?? or is there some special windscreen glue you have to use??

thanks
tom

thanks for that, might go for a drive tomoro morning and grab some (nearest bunnings is an hour away) might try mitre 10 first otherwise a good excuse for a drive. even just driving home from work today (only 2 mins) its amazing how much of an inconvenience it is, went to look in it probably half a dozen times in that 2 mins!!

My mates EL and another EF have he same thing the glue melted away. I drive his EL and keep looking into something that doesnt exist.

On the other hand its amazing how much space it actually opens up and how much more you can see.

Happened in my old EA. Superglue only lasts about a day then it falls off again icon_confused.gif

I ended up getting some e poxy something or rather and it never fell off again icon_razz.gif
It's like two chemicals in a tube and they mix together when you squeeze it out. Just explain that to bunnings they will know what it is. Cost under $10 too!

Go to Bursons, repco etc, ask for rear vison mirror glue. Then remove mirror base from mirror body (loosen small hex screw). Using mirror glue stick base to windscreen and leave overnight. Re-attach mirror body to base and tighten screw.

Do not attempt to do this without first removing mirror base, The wieght of the mirror will cause it to fall of befor glue has set.

well went to repce this morning as mate works there and bought this loctite rear vision mirror adhesive ($only $6.50) then removed the bracket from the mirror (tiny allen key), put the first part of the glue on the windscreen (after cleaning old glue off) then the second part on the bracket and stuck it on. in the mean time stuck a new set of wiper blades on and mucked around tidying the boot for half an hour. then put the mirror back on and did the screw up, solid as a rock!!

Small screw in the mirror assembly, in the part that is holding it up. Tighten that as tight as you can without breaking it and that's probably the best you can do. icon_biggrin.gif

if u find that after tightening the srew it is still vibrating take it off and put some duct tape on the part that touches the anchor only, this way it is hidden, u may need 3-4 layers or more, i did it to the ef a yr ago and stiil good.
