Hey guys.

Just wondering what the best spring & shock setup would be on my el xr8.
I wanna lower it but still keep it somewhat legal..

Any suggestions?

Koni shocks, and Bilstien (spelling?) springs they are both pretty good quality products; i think most people here would recommend bilstien and Koni. icon_wink.gif

Pretty expensive thou.

Other alternatives are King springs, KYB Sports Gas shocks, Munroe, Pedders these would be considered the cheaper options. icon_lol.gif

As for being legal there is a specific clearance that you have to consider when lowering however super lows prolly still qualify as being legal i guess. icon_rolleyes.gif But i would just go with lows as you may get scraping issues when lowering the car to a greater extent.

Hoped that helped

Being an XR8 if you put 'lows' in it you will notice no difference. To lower an XR you need to install 'superlows'
I have King superlows and KYB shocks in my Fairmont and I am very happy with both products. The car sits at a nice low height, is firm, but not uncomfortable and handles well.

Good stuff..
How much clearance do you have from the lowest point of ur car?

Its just that i dont wana have 2 rip em out when the coppa says "nup, too low" and hands over a fine & a defect notice!

Cheers.

Lol, it's so hard to tell with superlows. For example, a recent cruise we had in SA we were comparing 3 cars side-by-side, with same springs and similar shockers. 3 different ride heights with at least 1.5inch difference between highest and lowest.

I doubt if mine's legal height (check user gallery FYI) but others who have superlows would be fine.

As Martin said, it's hard to say. I don't know the road rules interstate, don't some states go by ground clearance? If that's the case I think mine would pass ok.
In S.A. they go by suspension travel/bump stop clearance, you can only reduce it by 1/3. In this case mine is on the wrong side of legal...

Pedders
Sportsrider Springs and Shocks all round have worked very well and are legal height. I got the guards rolled to be safe, whichn didnt cost much, and it sits at a height i'm happy with

Yep, nsw law goes by ground clearance, 10mm from the lowest point of the car to be exact! And i think that might include 4 people in the car and a full tank of petrol? Correct me if im wrong?
