|
|
Wanting to eventuly get some ba xr8 wheels for my 96 fairmont ghia and drop it but with insurance i am not allowed to have the wheel arch lower than the tyre or wheel i forget witch one. So can i lower my car first then adjust it when i get my wheels later down the track. How much would a set of king springs cost? Fitted.
thanks |

| you might aswell get the wheels first then just to be safe and make sure that you compliy with insurance. check out Waggin's Total Web section for his prices on King Springs or start ringing your local Repco and suspension joints! |

| I would lower first, I did and glad I did so. You may even like your car lowered with stock rims. I've seen many cars with rims but stock suspension and frankly it just looks queer. That, and it's the cheapest option first up. |

| I did all my suspension work first, then realised now it was the wheel/tyres letting me down, so on went the wide rubber. |

| I would definitely get the wheels first, that way you can lower it to suit the wheels. |

| You should do it the other way round as you may find you will need another alignment after it's been lowered |

i think so....
my wheels were $1680 roughly and he said hed do $1780 with lock nuts, nitrogen filling, free alignment for the lifetime of the wheels no matter how many new cars it goes on or how many times i raise/lower the car, and balancing..... |

i think its a fair crock filling them with nitrogen.. just sounds good - "i only run nitrogen in my tyres!!"
isnt a fairly large % of the atmosphere nitrogen anyway? |

Nitrogen is more thermally stable. ie. hot and cold pressures don't vary much.
Nitrogen also leaks less, so you don't need to pump 'em up as often.
(mind you, I've had my tyres filled once, at purchase, over a year ago, they hold their pressure just fine).
edit: nitrogen makes up 70% of normal 'air'. but if you can get it free with a new set of tyres, why not get it. |

Air contains moisture which expands when the tires get hot so you do not have a constant tire pressure, very noticable on a long highway run or a hard drive threw the hills.
Nitrogen does not, so stays at a constant pressure |
