I was told recently not to use a ceramic core cat converter with the combination of headers and lpg but rather get a steel core cat..
Anyone know whats in the standard one? |

As far as it goes, a cat does nothing with LPG... however, according to the ADR you need it on a vehicle post Jan86, I`d go the cheapest possible option suited to your needs...(I could say don`t bother but that`d be irresponsible)

Well I still need the cat being a dual fuel system..
The main concern here is the extra heat of headers combined with the extra heat of running gas causes ceramic cats to deathify rather than any emissions reasons.
So a dead (melted/cracked etc) cat is mainly going to be a concern for flow. |

As I said, get the cheapest one that suits your needs, and you only said gas, not dual fuel...get a standard one and you`re set to go, legally too. if it`s a falcon abd you want a bigger system, use a VN cat, bigger pipe, plenty ppl using them on Xseries with 2.5" pipes

| The factory LPG system for E series purposely richens the mixture under deceleration and a few other conditions to lengthen the life of the CAT. From that it would seem that a straight O2 loop system could be detremental to the life of the CAT. |

Have you ever thought of just gutting the standard cat and putting a 2.5" pipe through the middle of it???
I've "heard from a friend" that it makes the car sound better and flows really good to |

| Im actually one of those minorites that thinks a working cat converter is an important thing. I still probably use petrol 1/4 of the time after all.. |

Did you get that info from the Tickford LPG supplement?
To me that sounds wrong as that may introduce unburnt LPG into the converter, that in turn WILL destroy it if it happens for to long. |
