| Yeah im looking to buy a new comp screen as this one is on its last legs, flickering, turning off, cutting out and the like, anyway what kind of damage to the old wallet would a 19 inch LCD monitor do? |

If you go to the computer swap meet on a Sunday you can pic 'em up for between $300 - $500 dependant on make and quality.
The two main things to look for are Pixel response time (<10ms is what your after) and as small a DotPitch as you can get (<.3mm)
I've been looking for a 21" Widescreen LCD but seeing as I've got a 21" CRT I'll wait a bit longer for the prices to come down a bit more.. (Spending cash on engine bits at the moment. ) |

yeah round 450 beginning for a 19" LCD with a response time of 16ms or less.
For any brands i'd recommend anything from samsung since they manufacture the internal components for the majority of LCD manufacturers. For a 8 or 4ms panel with good specs look to pay round $620-$710
Another good website with "close to computer fair" prices is www.scorptec.com.au |

Dedicated PC Acer 19" widescreen Lcd for $200; but that was a once off.
Can def get good bargains if you have a good look around tho.
$300-$500 will get you a very good screen. |

Nah its a CRT and will s**t on LCDs. Only downside is its big and heavy. Picutre is better than any LCD. |

I'm currently running 2x Sony 21" Trinitrons.. very soon to be replaced by a Dell 24" Widescreen LCD.
Anyway, 19" LCD are going for around $400-450 on eBay, just shop around. Dont expect the image quality or colour reproduction to be as accurate as a CRT, esp not in that price range. |

dunno dude ive been exposed to loads of different LCD and CRT products and LCDs now are pretty impressive when it comes to game and movie motion that previouly hindered high ms LCDs picture quality |

CRT Will burn too.
On this note; at work our CRT screens are burnt but our LCD screens are not.
Take alot to burn either and if you manage to; you deserve it as its just plain abusing your monitor if you ask me!
Plasma is a different kettle of fishl but who the hell would use one as their PC monitor I ask and WHY?! |

CRTs advantage is the res, I love my CRT (LG F700P), 1600*1200 won't find a 19in LCD that will do that. Anyways I say get the Samsung 930BF ~$600, my brother has the 17in version and it's a great screen, 4ms response good clear picture and looks sexy
Good Luck

Well i found out i dont have enough to get a 19 inch screen so im getting a Benq 17 inch one for 320 instead of 400.
Seems like a good deal to me. |
