YOU HAVE A SET OF SHIMS STOCK.
With a regrind you simply add another set. |
Im not talking about the factory shims...... i mean extras.... i dont like the idea of the lifter sitting any further out of the rocker arm than it does!!! ive seen snapped corners of rocker gear from this. |

A new billet cam, ground to 1673 specs, is $396.00 + freight.
How have you achieved 10.5:1 comp, that seems very high?
Chris |
I stand corrected , my comp is going to be at 10:1 i have just been to the engine builders, it should be ready to pick up next week, $396 plus freight sounds good, ill be ordering within the month !
my comp before the rebuild was only 9.4:1.... because the original AU head has a smaller area in the combustion chamber, and im running the EF tickford which has a larger area 65cc i think he said.. so he is taking another 5thou off the head and 17thou off the block and that should bring it up around the 10:1 mark. so all up the head will have 35tho off and 17 off the block. |

I wasn't trying to infer that you were wrong. I was just curious about the fairly high comp figure.
Cheers

gday guys,
with an ED XR6, got extractors 2.5" exhaust, getting a new cat for it (half melted), soon to have a CAI air etc
how much power could i expect at the wheels? (auto)
i would really like to see 130rwkw. do you think that is asking to much of the 1673?
head has just had new stem seals put (literally a couple of days ago) in, along with a new headgasket, head was surfaced and all that etc
engine has 329,000 on it, but seems to pull fairly hard still. |

Under normal circumstances, 125 to 130rwkw's is easily achievable. For you, firstly, we don't recommend the 1673 for an auto. I know people who've used it in an auto, with varying degrees of success, but we still don't recommend it. The second point is, 329,000 k's makes for a pretty tired engine. |

130rwkw is achieveable with this cam, but as Chris said (Wade Cams), the older is getting tired and old. Though I believe you can still achieve 130rwkws with that motor, question is how long it will last.

hey guys, just wondering if this cam would be suitable for me?
Basically i've got a ef ghia (tickford running gear) so i've got slightly higher compression and the 3.45 lsd. Obviously the car is auto, will this cam be alrite to put in?
other mods include cold air, FULL exhaust system. I don't plan on getting a tune to this car and will be using it as a daily driver (i also race at wsid and would like to get the best time possible out of this car) Its done 197 000 km's so still fairly fresh (im planning on changing head gasket at the same time as cam, as im unsure when it was last changed.) |

The 1673 profile is fine. The only suggestion we would make would be to open the lobe centre to 115 degrees, given that you're running an auto.
Here are the specifications.
