I agree, in a few years, everybody will forget the vl turbo. xr6 turbo will be king.

For 58 grand i'd rather purchase a brand new xr6 turbo fully optioned and mod it with one of the phase kits. For the difference in price and performance between the typhoon and the xr turbo, the typhoon just doesn't seem worth it. Its a great looking car though.

Most new car buyers do not buy a car to modify it, you talk to most performance shops, it is the second and third generation of car owners that look towards modifying the car. Someone who buys a new car usually looks for one that satisfys there needs straight out of the box... Hence why there is a market for the Typhoon, even if you could get the cheaper XR6T and have a upgrade kit done...

Fair enough twr7cx, i understand what you mean. But really an extra 10 grand over the turbo, 30kw and 100nm and the typhoon is only 1 tenth quicker across the quarter. Abit of a disappointment. Those figures should propel it much faster! From a performance sense you'd buy the xr6t and mod it, but if you wanna be flash and standout you'd buy the typhoon.

The Typhoon has had more than just engine upgrades. The interiors better, the wheels, bodykit, etc.... FPV also offer free advanced driver training with it, etc. And as far as I know Typhoons are 58 grand, while XR6T's can be had for 46, so it's a bit over 10 grand difference. Personall I think both cars are pretty decent value for money!

they (motor) have a brand new car, it isn't run in yet, so give it some time, and you can expect even lower times.
im sure it will run quicker, for the small increase in weight, and the massive jump in torque and power, it has to run a high 13sec time.

The thing is to you get a full factory warranty with the Typhoon as well. Where as if you modded the XR6T you might nott. Turbo's being Turbo's can sometimes have their problems. Like the old saying goes,
" High Performance cars can have High performance problems."

yeah its an hsv. An extra 9 kw over the Holden model so its at 180kw. I remember reading that it was available in the vy shape but was put to the special order catalogue. No one bought it so they discontinued it because it was not selling. Its supercharged and it makes 2 kw less than a stock BA. icon_rolleyes.gif

And also probably like others have and including my self they were not hard to "Chop" in a Traffic light drag. They were just HSV show ponies.

Wow, pitty that the bloke from FPV did point this out to HSV when they claimed they are V8's only! What about the V6 Monaro that Holden brought out, how hit was that!

Yeah also folks have you seen the latest article in "MOTOR" that is about the F6 and has it on the front cover as well. I thought the times they got out of it were a bit slow 14.02 for a 1/4. But I guess the car isn't fully run in yet., so probably will expect to see them drop a bit icon_rolleyes.gif
