| ok, still have random noises from brakes so i'm just gonna overhaul them. the guy told me 1200 for bendix ultimates, dba slotteds, new bearings and seals and a flush. does this sound right? i'm assuming most of the money is going to the rotors and labor. is there anything else people can think for me to do? aside from new calipers. |

1200 s**t
the rotors are 130 easch max
pads are prolly 60-70 per set
bearings - 150 or so
fluid flush - 40-50
labour the rest
are u doing the front rotors or front and rear?
u could prolly do it yourself it wouldnt be that hard with a ew tools to save on the labour |

| yeah front and rear. i thought it was a little expensive but not that bad. i would not trust myself to fix anything on my car though. i'm more of a trial and error type guy rather than a plan first, then action guy. i usually end up spending more money cuz i break s**t. |

Well, I just did front wheel bearings, I got rear wheel bearings but didn't fit them, new Bendix Ultimates for the rear and new slotted DBA discs for the rear and I also replaced the master cylinder that was leaking.
This was on an EF.
Rear discs cost me $170 set
Pads - $90
Front Bearings - $36 (cheap Koyo)
Rear Bearings - $27.50 (good Timken)
Master Cylinder - $170
Brake Fluid - $7
Back brakes were done in 30 mins, master cylinder took 5 mins, front wheel bearings took me 2 hrs... a lot of that time was dealing with very un-cooperative bolts holding the calipers on, bleeding the system too me and a mate about 1 hr. If the front brakes were done it would have taken about 10 mins on top of that 2 hrs for the wheel bearings.
So, all up it was 3hrs work and $500. I get front slotted DBA rotors for ABS for $110 each and pads are $90 set for ultimates. So the price for me to have done everything would have been $810. |
