XR6, XR8 Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia had splits from factory with tweeters in the dash flat up against the windscreen

None of the EF/EL series falcons came out with A-Pillar tweeters i havd to make both of the ones shown. It is an example of how to mount a 1" tweeter and a 4" tweeter like the supremo.

Yeah great effort their Aaron, lol i dont need to buy the In-Car audio mags ne more lol. icon_smile.gif

So just for curiosity sake, if i were to choose a new speaker system upgrade for the front of my car would i stick to the same size speakers or would i increase the size, as i lack alot of midbass in my system especially at the front.

I have a 12' sub with 6.5' rears and using the stock split system atm. icon_smile.gif What would be best for staging etc.. 5.25', 6', 8'?

Cheers icon_smile.gif

It depends on whether you wish to go 3 way or 2 way but assuming 2 way then go with 6.5" splits if you can. 5.25" located in the kicks produces a very nice sound and images ans stages well but you will not get the same amount of midbass as with a 6.5" speaker. You could go 4"midrange 1" tweeter int he kicks and a 6.5" midbass located in a custom door pod down low. It depends on how much work and money you wish to spend.

5.25" splits with tweeter and midrange both int he factory location is the easiest and will still sound very good if done right (i.e. sound deaden doors angled MDF etc...)

Sort of like in this pic of a mtaes car. 4" and 1" in the kicks and 6.5" midbass on a fibreglass pod in the door. This is obviously a procgress photo and when done it looks much neater.

Yeah okay cool, well 2 ways would be my ideal decision, however i would have a few problems with sapce as well, putting them in the factory holes.. as the magnets on speakers these days are alot bigger than the stockies. icon_confused.gif

Mabe a custom door pod would be the solution for that thou icon_smile.gif I do have a few other ideas but im mainly just concerned about it being practical, so i didnt want to go too fancy with the whole thing.

Thanks for the help thou icon_smile.gif

great work on this Aaron, how much was it worth to make up the a-pillar pods??? (the smaller moulded ones) also, i am trying to fit a pair of pioneer, 6" 250w splits to the front and was wonderin whether anyone would know if you can fit them in the factory door location without any problems with the window behind, cos' the magnet is pretty F**k big... (i'd find out myself but i can't mange to get the bastard door trim off, lock thing wont come out)

once again, great work on your tutorials

A-Pillars cost me approx 6hrs time and $180+ the pillars themselves

Getting things vaccum moulded is expensive but you get what you pay for in my opinion. I have seen DIY vinyl jobs and even the good ones still look wrinkled in sections.

I am looking for good quality photos of YOUR installs to include in these tutorials.

What should you do ?

- Read the tutorial
- Take photos of either your equipment or installation showing somethnig that i can include that relates to the text
- E-mail ohotos to me
- Photos should be good quality pics that are nice and cler and nice and close so the object of interest fills the frame.

I wont promise i will include all photos but i will try to incorporate some into these documents.
