| I've got three sets of mid ranges sitting here, there to go in the front on my car, two are Alpines, one's Clarion. Would it be fair to assume that the one with the larger magnet is the better one? |

Well specs and pricing does mean something here as twrx36 has not exactly fitted them yet so therefore cannot listen to them to decide which is best. |

Well he should of listened to them b4 he bought them, as that is the only real issue that will make the decision about which is better!
So have you heard the speakers play the music you like? or did you just get them without trying them? |

Believe me, I wouldn't buy three sets of midranges just to then decide which ones to use.
I can't really be f**k going through and testing them all out, plus, since there currently running on the Pioneer (Snow_white, I can't match brands) headunit I doubt I'd really notice a difference at such low power.
I do have a Rockford Fosgate amp for them, that I plan on mounting under the passenger seat, I'm just waiting to get ahold of some replacement seats (Tickford XR ones) and I'll mount it and change the seats at the same time. |

What ones do you think look better quality.... Put it that way, if you dont want to try them out then go by which speaker set looks like the better build quality.
And if you are running them on an amp then make sure they can handle the extra power too. |

| If i can remember correctly the spekers magnet, the stronger the magnet the loader the sound gets so say you have a weak magent with the same current etc etc the sound theoretically should be softer, visa versa with the larger magnet. But in saying this a magnet could also be large and weak depending on wat material it is made out of. |

| Ok, I've narrowed the choice down to one of the sets of Alpines or the Clarions. I'm currently running the Alpines, and I'll test out the Clarions when I fit my new tweeters in. Reckon I'll probably end up just keep the Alpines. |

quit filling threads up with s**t mate.
you could spend $900 on a set of splits and they might not sound right to the listener. a $300 set might sound better to the listener.
and brand matching is a bunch of s**t, what the hell are you talking about? only saying this cos its the 2nd thread i've seen you dribbling s**t in.
it may take longer to install each set and give them a good listen, but if it matters, a days work is what you're gonna be listening to every day you drive. |

Well for starters im not filling threads up with s**t, i am filling them up with responses, personal opinions and tips. twr7cx asked a question and i answered.
I totally agree what you are saying about fitting them first and trying them out but twr7cx couldn't be bothered fitting them. So when worst comes to worse, In most cases you would fit the more expensive product wouldn't you?? Hence a 70k GT and a 30k XT you pick.

we're talking car audio here.
its not always safe to assume more expensive = sounds better
i dunno if a $1200 sony h/u sounds better than a $600 alpine unit?
twr7cx made no mention of being too lazy to install. |

No the better quality speaker would go in not the more expensive one. It might be worth heaps of $$$ but then again it might be of s**t quality.
Price doesnt mean s**t with car audio its all about the quality and the sound.
Not the price |

Ok, if you can't fit the product, you don't know the specs the last resort is judging by the price. I would and frankly that's all that matters to "me".
