| I have been trying to work out how to install a trip computer from an NA Fairlane into my EB, The wiring is (as I kind of guessed) totally different from an EL/EF, so I have no idea how to wire it in. There is still only one data line going to the instrument cluster, right? then there is all the other wires! |

With the EA-ED u gotta run a wire from the ECU i think it was pin 24 or 26 it's a green/yellow wire. One to the speedo wire on the cluster and another one from the fuel sender. With the other wires they are for the light when u have your parkers on. The White/black wire dont hook up as there is no info on where this wire goes it's only for the buzzer. If i can find the wiring diagrams i will let u know
Hope this helps a little bit |

| There's a docoument with diagrams, photos and step-by-step instructions. It hasn't been put back in the doco section since the site crash, but I'll email the 'higher powers' and see if I can put a hurry on it for you. It's very helpful! |

was wondering if it is a straightforward plug in to the Spack wiring loom for the trip computer and is the loom a commonshared item with the fairmont ghia?
if the mod that was avail before the site crash could be reposted it would be a great help.
also i found the hunter falcon Center to be of great help when sourcing parts (mech and trim ) |

| u cant plug and play with the trip computer to an S-pack. The plug is different and u will need additional wires for the trip computer. Well, at least that what i found when installing one into my EA-Spack |

any help is gratefully recieved
but minimising the work was my goal as i love driving the bugger more than working on it

The adding a Trip Computer Doco is back Online, and can be found here
http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/documents.php?doc=46
I dont have ANY Images for Wiring pinouts, or the trip computer, so if anyone has pictures of either of these, I stick them up on the website, with pinout labelling to make wiring the thing a little easier.
Hope this helps |

Just as a side thought here, has anyone tested the accuracy of the average litres per 100 kilometres on the trip computer in an EB Fairmont.
Also does the trip computer return to 0.0 litres/100km on the average litres per 100 kilometres function when it is reset ?? |

i Have a trip computer but am timid to put it in after what happened on my last attempt. (wires shorted out under the dash and fried the fusible links at the battery and stuffed the odometer)
Can someone confirm that their should be +12 V on the pulse width (wire to computer) comming from the T.C.?? It dosen't seem right to me that it should be putting 12 volts to the computer. |

Hi,
Can someone tell me if the "pin's" on the instrument cluster and EEC-IV connector are numbered?
Otherwise, how do you know which pin is #2 on the 16 pin connector etc??
Does anyone have nay diagrams of the connectors showing the pin #'s? |

It has a reset button on it but for some reason my EF requires the engine be running before it'll let me reset the trip computer. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the computer or not but its fairly irritating nonetheless.

That's because it uses the Inst L/100km numbers to derive the Avge L/100km reading. After you reset it it has nothing to average hence the crazy initial reading. The longer you drive without resetting it though the more data it accumulates and so the reading settles down. |
