|
|
I have a Kodak Easy Share digital camera (cheapie yes, but does the job). Now...the software i got with it so i can upload all the visuals off it takes over all the picture files i have and changes the format to the Kodak format. Get what i mean? I dont want this to happen, i just want all file formats to stay the same and just load all my pictures normally.
Can anyone recommend a program that doesnt take over the 'puter and is compatible with my Kodak camera? Or how to stop the Kodak software from taking over? |

| Get rid of the kodak software and simply copy your pictures onto a memory stick and then insert into your computer(if it has the slots)and the windows picture manager automatically appears and problem solved. |

let me get this straight... do you open your pictures (say .JPG /.BMP etc) and it opens up using Kodak Software instead of the normal Windows Picture Viewer (default for windows XP)
If you want to override the Kodak Software from opening, just follow this:
1. Right click ANY .jpg file
2. Click on properties
3. There should be a button "CHANGE" where it says "Opens With:" Click on CHANGE
4. Search for "Windows Picture & Fax Viewer" (or any other program u want to open when you view pictures)
5. Make sure the check box (tick) is ticked for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
6. Click ok and it should work.
7. Repeat Steps 1-6 for all Picture Extensions that you dont want Kodak Software to open (ie .jpeg, .gif, .bmp etc)
This will work for Windows XP... there is another way for earlier version of windows but let me know if that works!
**Please disregard post If the above is not what you were asking lol** |

Thanks for the replys guys (still sifting through the info). Im actually running windows NT (please dont laugh lol). Ill see if i can decipher any of this and get it to work.
Snap0964: It has the firewire connection that adapts to USB (with the supplied cable), if thats what you mean. Should i just be able to plug it in and let the computer detect it then go through the 'removable disk' in 'my computer'? Hope that made sense 'cos im f****n off me nut. |

You'd have to upgrade your operating system to Windows 95b/98/98SE, ME or preferably XP. Same deal with a USB card reader.
I'm not on the same wavelength as to how you get your pics on computer, I'm assuming your camera puts them onto floppy and you put them on that way. If your running NT, then it can't be via USB.
As mentioned, you can can change the JPG file association - it's similar to the previously explained XP procedure. Then you can choose what you want to open them by default, but you can still open them in other picture software if needed. |

MRE-40L thats how it should be seen; as a external device (in my computer). Howver, it wont read the drive if Win NT is not compatible with USB (as mentioned previously)
my suggestion... upgrade to XP (stay away from Windows ME) |

It is not a problem to actually use the software as a GUI sense, it is very basic (it was written for people that can't think for themselves), the problem with the software is it is glitchy, interferes with other software and any operating system that can run it. |
