yes/no

it will depend on the qualuity of the telephone line and your distance from the exhange

i went from an internal modem to external and got a increase fron 42kbps to over 50kbps icon_smile.gif

but i am very close to the exchange icon_smile.gif and lines are good

Give this site a go : http://www.ozspeedtest.com/

There's plenty around like it - be aware though whatever initial speed your connection is at is only at that time, your modem will vary speed depending on line conditions, bandwidth, etc.

Dialup: Slow (by todays standards) up to 56kb/s. Usually slower than that

ADSL: The current 'broadband' internet usually in use. speeds usually range between 256kb/s and 1.5Mb/s.

Broadband is just a buzzword for fast internet.

yeah it is but dont forget i did that when it was just me on the net doing basic things, i have two other bros that use the net as well here so yeah but the connection speed is still fast when they are also on.

i downloaded a 100 meg file from nero to update to a newer version cause they damn thing wouldnt repair and couldnt find install file for it so i decided to update and i was getting 500kbs from there site, even when my bros where on the net, so my connection speed is pretty good, plus i use a router which spreads the internet nicely around
