For anyne who is interested, the new February CTP build of Vista is out!

Download from MS is slow since so many people are trying to get it..

Some screenshots here:

Reading the newsgroups, it seems this build is a LOT more stable, and faster...and is feature complete including the sidebar etc...

1 GB is satisfactory for Vista...more is better as always, but more is not needed...

Linux is able to run on a DX33? That would be one very useless machine.

WinXP also works on a PII 233 with 64mb RAM.

hehe i know... both machines would be uesless to just about everyone, i just get sick of listening to pro-linux/microsoft hating zeolots every day. If windows didn't have to be so versatile, it'd be a more stable and secure again, but it has to accomodate so many diferent hardware configs and driver revisions its not funny.

If linux was as widely used and understood, and also had the compatibilty windows had, it wouldnt be much, if at all, any better.

Well, the linuxbox could easly surf the net and do what most normal users use their PC's for. But still, vista's "Aero Glass" interface thingo is just rediculous. People that will be forced to update to Vista and their PC's will chug along. Not to mention the attempt to implement openGL into DX!!!

I don't think anyone's going to be forced to use the Aero Glass theme, just like in windows XP you can switch back to classic.

Yep...true

Ive got it installed now, much the same as the previous build, quite a bit more stable, and faster. Still a lot of application incompatability though...this isn't a BETA build so thats why not everything works on it yet...

I wouldn't mind giving the 64-bit edition a go, currently running XP x64.

xp 64 was good but a few bugs in it i found ,i play wow and u go to exit the game and it wont return to windows screen ,the antivirus programs where a bit weak but it was quicker than the 32 bit version so i would try the new 64 bit build .

The only problem I've had is with some icons not showing up right. It's actually been runnign pretty sweet.

I reckon Vista 64-bit should be good, because in the near future the majority of people will own 64-bit processors, and MS can't afford to realease a buggy OS to such a large market (likewise with hardware manufacturers and drivers).
