On one machine at work i keep getting this error occurring in one users' profile. It has just reared it's ugly head again after 2 months since a clean install. it's not the quickest machine around (450MHz, 256MB RAM, 4GB HDD) but it's only for a part timer who needs to use Word and Excel which causes this error. The documents are not corrupt as any other profile can open them with no problems.

I can't find anything relating to Office XP, Wndows 2000 and this error. I have searched for the error codes and a general search of ntdll.dll.

Any ideas?

ah do you have roaming profiles set up there at ure work, if you do prob delete the profile, well back it up first so you can copy all teh important desktop files back and stuff.

i can think of heaps more things to do but yeah to much to list, otherwise if ure really stuck you can even get my number of mel and give me a call after 11 i dont mind helpin you out, but all depends how its set up

update - different computer, copy only My Documetns folder and Desktop icons across into new profile. SAME ERROR!!

clicking to change the font, print preview causes any document that DOES open to create the error and close Office.

next test - try on a windows XP machine instead of win 2k

it's completely random! some documents will open, some won't. the ones that do open then die after font list, print preview etc.
