9 seconds is POOR? Why, could you run a faster pass on a pogostick or something?

The power needed for every second reduced in ET grows at a geometric rate.

Our engine is vertually stock. Other than being bored out .030" (hence 468cid) all it has is a mild cam and a balanced bottom end. The heads are stock factory items with no porting or polishing work done. It makes an estimated 450hp at the crank.

I share the car with my mate and our combined point scores put us in the lead of the WA state title. At least until this saturday, when the last event of the season is held.

Anyone else with BA's doing similar times ? I would have thought low 15s were more likely...

Fordfreak, hows the new engine going ?
Do you think there's more in it ? I assume you haven't got the uni chip tuned yet ?

My times (which again people are probably sick of hearing icon_razz.gif )

1. EF Futura, 5 speed manual, 3.45 LSD, It's performance stage 4 I6 NA
2. Weight ? I dunno, what ever an EF weighs - prolly abotu 1550 + my 70kg
3. ranges from 150-175rwkw depending on the dyno and how the stock ECU is feeling that day!
4. Prolly about 8/10 but neither the clutch nor tyres allow high rev clutch slipping launches...
5. WSID - 20 degree air temp
6. 3.45 LSD and s**t 185 width burnout stockies!
7. 14.4 @ 91 mph
8. 60 foot - 2.1

I'll be trying for a 14 flat with better tyres and more agressive launch when I head back shortly icon_smile.gif

Mylo - what a silly thing to say. Let's see your efforts at producing a 9 second drag car.

US Pro stock cars run 800+ cube mountain motors, naturally aspirated. 815-820 cubes are most common.

People we race against can't believe the times we run with a motor that has had so little done to it.

hi all?hyena... had my unichip tunes same day as the drags on the wed... did 157 rwks after the tune at granville autotech... wasnt sure about the 4th gear dyno runs though... spiro said my engine was one of the more powerful n/a he's dynoed there... icon_smile.gif for sure it has more in it... though the car hits the limiter in 3rd (3.45 xr diff) 15-20 m short of the finnish line... icon_confused.gif n the engine has a slight missfire between 1400-2500 rpm... changed the fuel filter, spark plugs are 4000 km old, just installed new ignition leads... mayby injectors are dirty? although i did do a 2.0 60 footer.. 235/45/18s n a 14.64 so not too bad but yes, i do believe when the engine frees up a bit more n sort out the slight missfire there is more from my engine to come... + better times...

I dunno mate, that's straight off the timeslip!
I haven't got them in front of my now but I think there were a few runs around 93?

Fordfreak I have the same issue with 3rd gear - if you hold it out you'd gonna hit the limiter in 3rd otherwise you've barely into 4th as you cross the traps. If you run slightly lower profile tyres you get through the gears that little big quicker. I'm up for new tyres shortly and I'm gonna try and squeeze some 355s on my rims. That should give more traction off the line and a bit lower profile in height too (as a function of the width, it's just the way it works out)
175rwkw seems to be eating through my clutch though. I can't hold 2nd gear burnouts anymore because the clutch slips. It's still fine on the street though so not worth replacing yet just for a better ET.

What did you pull on the autotech dyno prior to tuning ? I assume it was dyno dynamics ?
I only did a low 150 at powercruise a few weeks back, although the engine was pretty hot after belting around the track icon_smile.gif

355's damn!!

maybe its that last change 3rd into 4th slowing ya down?? do u flat change it?

i dont have as much power as u guys but i got a 3.45 and im changing into 4th alot earlier.. although i have a huge flat spot anything over 4600 in 3rd.

haha, typo! that should have been 255s icon_lol.gif

I don't flat change as such, I'm reasonably nice with the gear changes although 3rd to 4th is very quick anyway. I shift on redline

my timeslip... on my road tyres... 235/45/18s... so you mean try a 225-255/60/15 or something close to that hyena? on the back wheels... could bolt up light 205/60/15 to the front for less rolling weight n wind resistance... figured out it might be my coil pack thats givving my engine a slight miss between 1400-2500 rpm at up to half throttle applications... not sure of the before figure prior to the tune but after Spiro did the dyno tuning the car definatly felt just a lil more athletic through the gears... not sure about the dyno manufacturer... must be good though cos Granville autotech have a pretty good buisiness... and alot of happy customers...

I couldn't be a*** putting skinny wheels on the front and really I think that's a bit of a toss unless you're running times a good few seconds less than us.
But yeah on the back the last time I went my burnout rims were something like 185-55-15 or something. The skinny width and lower profile made for a pretty tame launch because you couldn't rev it up much but the smaller rolling diametre made up for it a little once moving and made it a bit quicker through the gears

i definatly like my 2.0 sec 60 footers... but they were with my 235/45/18s... might have to search around for some chunky lil tyres for the a** end... you'd suggest something like? eg) 225/60/15? i can get those tyres easy.... i already have the rims...15's that is...

Go to American Autos, get some 235/60/15 Drag T/A's. Street legal Semi-Slicks, and a set of EB XR6 15in rims, then they sit under the gaurds nicely, and trust me you wont have any traction issues with these. I paid 240 each about 2 months ago.
