Ahh that's kinda ringing a bell. I had it up on the hoist after its purchase earlier this year and one of the guys checking it out was pointing at the power steering gear and saying that there was a power steering booster thingimie which he'd only seen on the LTD's. I wonder what else might have been mixed in. I don't suppose someone here knows a little something more about the extra gear that went into these "hybrids"? |
The front headrest adjusters on late EL's are the same as the AU ones  |

Do you also realise there is a squillion different 75 series (not sure about 78/79 series, I have worked on but not much playing with clusters) cluster setups that put the gauge in different spots, patrols are the same.
As for commonwhores they are back wards cars anyway, European crap design modified to suit f**k up weirdo GM lovers here and in the f**k up USA. |

To be fair to Uncle Henry when he built the mighty EL falcon, he did realise that a lot of these would be rental cars.
Not everyone checks which side the filler door is on, where the park brake is, the indicators, wipers, lights control etc is. In fact, most people just grab the keys, jump in and drive off.
So, when you need to fill it up, you drive up to a servo, and think duuuh which side is the filler on?
So I think it is a good idea.
But sure, if you've owned the car for more than a week, ya should know!

It isnt really a light... But it just says "<Fuel Door?" it sits under the pointer on the tacho. |

| Yes thats right. Its just printed underneath the tacho with an arrow pointing to the left. In retrospect they should have had some fancy idiot light for the fuel door, afterall, it was a $50,000 car when new - it should have had a fancy idiot light! |

Ive never seen it on my cars, altho it might not be on the high series - they have a picture of the car that shows what door/boot/bonnet/fuel flap is open.
Anyone got a picture of this fuel door msg, interesting. |

Im not sure if its standard, But its the one i got in the EL Fairmont Ghia. Others that i have seen dont have the top two components (top left and right) |

I know what you mean, looks very clean and modern looking.
High series have many more markings on the dials and use italics font in comparison. |

Nope. mine is a 96 EL and it had the arrow. I hated it!
its like, "DUH! I've had the car for a year, and I still don't know where the fuel door is!"
