In my quest to fix the most f'n annoying window problem in my EL XR8, i managed to snap the top of that part that plugs in and screws into the lock part seen above the door trim. (I hope that makes sense)

Unfortunately, that red piece that i broke, slots into another metal piece between the outside and inside metal panel of the doors, and it doesnt look like its easily replaced... If anyone knows what the hell i am talking about, are you able to offer any suggestions or help, cos right now, i have this gaping hole in the top of my door trim where the locking button should be.

Thanks

im replacing my door locks at them oment the red plastic rod is about the easiest things to replace in there, it is also a sepert part fromford so it should be fairly cheap.

Hmmm, I broke exactly the same red piece trying to fix the central locking gremlins.

Cost me all of $3.40 to replace from Ford.

How to put it back in? I haven't got that far yet!

Mate, had this problem about a week ago. unbolt the entire mechanism, there are three torx screws to undo. This allows much more movement in the mechanism, making it easier to remove the rod.

Thanks folks, appreciate your help. It looks pretty damn unattractive without the lock knob in the door trim.

Glad you could decipher my post icon_biggrin.gif

Personally id jus stick the lock button in the trim and leave it there! Ive had to replace the knob surround as it was severly damaged (not sure how) and that was a pain. And due to me not knowing that the knobs could be pulled off, i had a really hard time doing it!
