My girlfriends laser (I think its an 89) was broken into the other day and they fckd the locks. Is it worthwhile chucking on some solex locks as a replacement or are they just as easy to break into?

A mate of mine had solex locks on his Commo, so all the dirty thieves did was punch a hole in the actual door underneath the locks so they could get to the locking mechanism.

If they want to get into your car, they will regardless of the locks. Solex locks are a good deterent though

I priced Solex locks today and they are around the $90 mark......Worthwhile investment I think. If the car is insured, You might want to see your insurer because you may get slightly lower annual fees or premiums because you have taken an added step in protecting your car.

Thanks fellas.. I bought a set for my brother about 2 years ago for his VL for about $40 (brand new). Just wondering whether people had heard of them being broken into quite easily..

I've never heard of a car being broken into when it has Solex locks on it, The only thing I have heard of was a VB Commodore that had it's Solex locks filled up with some sort of glue......But that could happen to any lock.

They are a brand of security locks that suit many older type cars. A good investment.

instead of having a flat shaped key, they use a hollow circle key - you cant screwdriver them open...
