I was chasing a Fairlane today which was chasing a biker and I was gaining on him too. It was one of the Fairlanes that went with either the XD or XE in the early eighties. I was then starting to wonder what that range had under the bonnet, whether it was a 302 or a 351. I'm under the impression that 302's were the go for those models, is that correct?

I think they came with both... but mostly were with the 351... or it could've been the other way around, but i think mostly 351.... come to think of it i don't recall seeing a 302.....

ZJ and ZK were 250, 302 or 351. Due to the recovering fuel crisis most were 250 or 302. All were 3 speed autos. None had 9" diffs.

Today everyone fits 351 to them. They're heavy and need the power move.

All ZL's has 250 with 3 speeds.
