I agree. I have thought this too, that more pressure = less resistance.
Either way, I don't think you should let your tyres down at all.
You don't do it on the street (and if you do, you should grab a mirror), so why do it on the strip? Unless you have a "dedicated" quarter car, what's the point? By doing s**t like that, it's not representative of what your car can do every day so why bother?
What ever blows you hair back, I suppose... |

i'm gonna test both normal and low pressure next time i'm up at willowbank.
i find that a half flat tyre creates alot of drag. |

i find that a half flat tyre creates alot of drag. | i think i proved taht low pressure in a street tyre =lots drag n 2-3 mph on average slower accross the line.. |

| i think there would be a good happy medium between more pressure =less resistance and less pressure=more resistance...with my old silvia it was harder to get a good sixty foot time with out dropping the pressure and traction would improve heaps with less pressure |

Exactly.
You should start off at normal street pressure. Then work down a couple of psi at a time. As soon as your times and mph stop improving, that is the ideal pressure for your setup.
With our dragster we change the pressure by 1/2 or 1/4 psi increments. |
