Just replaced radiator with a second hand job, and since then the temp gauge in the dash isnt reading correct. It gets between the O and R and then drops right down to the lowest reading on the normal arc..... its actually not getting hot? but the car is.

What could be some problems?. coz i got no temp reading at the moment and i dont like it.

Mine always sits on the lowest reading, well just below the arc bit, open up your radiator cap, when tis cold, and run it, see if coolant is circulating, did you use your old cap?

the variation is not unusual..it would normaly sugest the thermostat is working the way it should,,when cold air is flowing throughthe radiator the thermostat should close as such when in hot conditions it will open,,so remember as you drive along the temp of the engine will rise and fall..

yeah i know that.
but i have a manual thermofan. if i leave it off, the mtoor heats up but then gets cool again(according to the gauge).. its not right, the car should get hot and blow up if it has no cooling, but the temp gauge is saying otherwise!

LOL it wont blow as such LOL

basically as u are driving the airflow over the rad is usally enoiugh to cool the water down ( on a average day ) hence no need for a fan at 60kmhr icon_smile.gif
