OK, guys.

Been thinking of a worthwhile topic to put up here that's INTERACTIVE, and doesn't involve tits & a**, flamings, deformed babies, footy tipping, prison sentences, or even inflatable sheep!

Unfortunately this one is applicable to my fellow EA-EL I6 owners.

Haven't you guys ever pulled up at the lights next to a WRX, Skyline, Commonwhore etc, ...or even an EF/EL XR8, and thought "Can I take this guy, what are my chances, or should I even bother?"

I certainly have, and I thought it would be great if you guys you could help me compile a list of common adversaries we have all come up against on the roads in a traffic light - straight road drag situation, from RICER to HOLDEN, 4, 6, & 8 cylinders.

WHAT I'M ATTEMPTING TO DO IS COMPILE A LIST OF OUR COMMON ADVERSARIES, ...ALONG WITH OUR CHANCES OF BEATING THEM!

I've divided the list into 3 categories as below, and started it off with some models, along with a stock or mildly modded EA-EL I6 'chance rating' W(win), N(neck & neck), or L(lose):

RICER HOLDEN FORD
WRX W models? EF/EL XR6 N
SKYLINE L EF/EL XR8 L
300ZX L BA XT W
Magna W BA XR6 L

...get my drift?

I've only done a few here, so please feel free to copy this format and add your own models & ratings to this list from your own knowledge / opinion, or experience (and correct mine! icon_biggrin.gif )

Or you can just add a reply with your models & ratings in regular format, and I'll add them to the list as we go.

What I will do ultimately is put together a definitive list on a speadsheet or word document, and post it up as a guide that everyone can check out.

As they say, fore-warned is fore-armed, ...so join in on this one & get those models & ratings in!

Cheers.

you want to make a list of what cars you think we can beat and loose to in an attempt to encourage more illegal street dragging/racing?

At least Soulfire is getting into the spirit of this one!

This is only a HYPOTHETICAL survey!

Of course I'm not encouraging illegal street racing!

I'm not a boy racer by any stretch of the imagination, but on occasion I've had cars eyeing me off at the lights, and I've wondered how I would actually fare against them.

I had actually put 'or track' in brackets on my original draft, but as a lot of us don't get to a track that often, I left it out so that you guys could imagine a more realistic situation.

Bearing in mind that most of the members on this site modify their cars to get more power & performance out of them, ...isn't it good to just have an idea of how we would stack up against other cars?

Hyena vs * - W icon_lol.gif

There's too many variables for this to be of any real value. If you pull up to someone at the lights (and by lights I mean christmas tree icon_wink.gif ) you don't know if theirs is stock, how good a driver they are, what sort of reaction time they'll have, how many mates they have in the car etc. I've been beaten by some wrxs, SS's and XR6Ts but won against others

If you want to make comparisons or formulate bragging rights run your car down the quarter then pick up a nrma or car mag or have a look online and see what time they do the quarter in then you can compare.

I find it entertaining that 2 of the cars I used to dream of owning as a kid - the ferrari testarossa and lambo countach aren't really any quicker over the quarter than my current car icon_smile.gif

Good points Hyena.

That's right, you don't know if they're stock.

I guess I was just trying to get a rough idea of how a stock / mildly modded I6 would go against more of the common souped-up cars out there!

Then at least as the mods progress, you then have an idea of what league you're bringing yourself into.

BTW, did you know that I'm buying Brendan's DEV 5 EL XR6?

Yeah, you did icon_lol.gif

It's an awesome car, brand new Red paint, lowered, 17" AU rims, DEV 5 upgrade to 180rwkw, sunroof, big stereo, 5-spd manual, HD clutch, ...can't wait to get my hands on it!

BTW, what short shifter are you using? How much & where from?

I've been checking out the new T5 Ripshifter at http://www.gmmotorsport.com/ripshiftmanual.htm ...what do think?

P.S. I'm glad you didn't sell your car, mate ...would've been a crime.

I'm using the patented Hyena Shortshift-R. It's custom, and you need 1337 hacksaw skills to make one icon_razz.gif

I was looking at the short shifters but after feeling DC Todds (can't remember what make/model it was but it was a few hundred) at the last dyno day it was no quicker than my cut down one so I didn't bother.

And yeah, I'm not selling the car until I have the funds to start over again with a modded XR6T icon_smile.gif

Enemy of the I6 is heat, and it's victims are headgaskets icon_lol.gif
On topic, I beat a 318i once...
but generally, I'm the opposite of Hyena.

i drove an LS1 with a rip shifter. it was heaven, for a commo that is.
and hyena, the only wrx you're scaring is a bugeye, and even that should take care of you unless they can't drive. nice looking car though.

Yeah I've put a length on a bugeye and my sisters boyfriends one ("classic" shape, not sure which model) was sitting around my back door, but as vin disel says, winning is winning icon_razz.gif

The >* thing was a joke though if anyone though I was being serious icon_smile.gif
