i can get an EA Fairmont at work thats got a snapped timing chain tensioner for sweet bugger all, and i can get a new motor fairly easily, but the interior is really really really dirty (stains etc).
How hard are the veleur door trims and seats etc to get clean?

with velour it depends on the stain. nine months ago, I put a full LTD interior into my NA Fairlane. There were a few stains I managed to wash out with that foamy interior cleaner, and rinse down with water. Any stubborn stains, I let the cleaner soak in for a while, and then rinsed down with warm water. If the surface feels rough, then all the velour has worn away (driver's seats are a typical example of this). Trim piping around the rear headrests can be sun damaged. Good luck cleaning - however, unsure about steam cleaning the seats - may work if done very lightly.

the Xh's origional interior was velour, and being an ex-company car was pretty shabby, i hired a 'rug doctor' steam cleaner from bunnings and every single stain came out, those things are great! i used it on door trims and everything, my brother also used it on his XR8, and worked a treat there too!

The velour interior in my fairmont was really s**t when I first got it. I thought it was beyond repair. (it was all yellow, and badly stained)

The door trims were cleaned with water, and a brush (look brand new now)

Rear seat had coke and chocky on it too.. they got steam cleaned, and look new now too.

Got it done at my detailer. Its all part of the "normal" $20 wash he does.

Yeah just go get a rug doctor or britex machine from your local supermarket. Those things work really well, especially on the light grey interiors of the eb2-ed falcons.
