now i know i will obviously need the lights out of an xr model, BUT will i need to change the bonnet on an ED to fit the bar or not??? |

| IIRC the ED XR bonnet was identical to the GLI but minus the grille |

| yeah interceptor's right, all you need to do is take the grille off the bottem of the bonnet and you will have the same bonnet. |

TTBMX: good luck finding a wrecker with a set of XR lights who doesnt want a kings ransom for them, never mind finding one with both sets and who wants to seperate them from the bar
Punnisher42: what do you mean "create"?
LSD: i'm not 100% on this, but IIRC you cant swap the light assemblies from the twinlights into a Ford XR front |

Lol, nice call. Basically, create the brackets for the lights yourself out of a bit of 3mm by 20, bent to shape using another light as a template. Then once these are made, buy the lights, or source them from another vehicle that has the same shaped lights, or maybe identical, and then either buy the front piece of the bar, or make it from fibreglass. Personally, I think making the brackets is fine if you can get it accurate, but sourcing lights themselves might be difficult. And the front bar would be getting too hard for most. |

if andrewJ's described what you wanna do..... it'd probably be less hassle and look a lot better if you went and bought the XR front |

Not a bad idea. Basically start looking now, as it could take you ages.
Oh.... and be sure to take your chequebook along! |

| XRfan u dont get it, the thing is that, the front bar is one the gt and XR as one not just the GT part. have a geez and you will get what i mean. So if i went to twinlight peeps, i would have to take the lights out and have the housings left over. |

TT i think to big prob you'll have here is the adjustment of the lamps. Reg Req's say you must have adjustment on the lamps.
So even if you get the XR twin light setup, you really need to pinch the whole light assembly, and find one with the plastic pegs intact...
I converted my fairmont to XR and found out the hard way the those pegs are essential - they hold the light in position on the adjustment screws, and without them, the light is a little flimsy in the bar...
Hoever, a keen might and a little knowhow could probably find a solution to that problem |
