i got a full custom 2.5" cat back no resinator and louder read muffler and it kicks the s**t out of any prefab redback or lukey system! same price too! |
i agree. although redback and lukey are quite cheap to buy. i am from the old school where you went to your local exhaust shop and got a custom twin system and make it loud!! i had an exhaust made for the GT-P today
twin 2.5 inch system through hotdogs and into a twin rear muffler. sounds tuff and cost under $500 |

I was just wondering what u call the dual mufflers? (lol is it called dual mufflers?) and also..if this can be done to a ford EF? Also how much would it cost me? thx |
Twin exhausts or twin mufflers? I mean twin mufflers is a sinch, just two mufflers on the exhaust pipe. But twin exhausts would be tricky, you'd have to find out where you can run the second pipe and brace it and what not. And I'm sure there'd be no advantage, just more weight on the car, more work and cost more!
You could just put a fake twin pipe on the rear!
Or you could get one of those mufflers that has single pipe input to dual pipe output. Or jsut a dual pipe exhaust tip. |

heh thx for that xr8. Well after some reading of some exhaust places in perth on the net..i've finally understood what he means by the "twin muffler" thing. I just want to know if its better to have one or two mufflers? Or more even? Also would a 2"5 exhaust be better then a 3" or vice-versa?
I just want to know all this before i go down to my local exhaust place. Never really tinkered with fords before hehe..
Hrmm maybe i better ask now instead of wasting time. What would be a good exhaust system to buy..from headers to the rear muffler?
thx for ur time |

doofus,
A good exhaust system to get is ... Pacemaker extractors, a hi flow catalitic converter, a 2.5 inch exhaust (lukey or reback pre fabricated piping), a resonator and the chrome exhaust tip of your choice.
For most people it costs 700 to 1000, depending upon what exactly you want and where you go.
Mufflers effect the sound (muffeling, or quieting) of the exhaust, whilst a catalitic converter treats harmfull gasses and a resonater stops droning. Depending upon how you want your exhaust to sound will effect you choice of what type and how many mufflers you will want. |

ahh okays, well that summed it all up in one go thx heaps.
one more thing, might sound a bit silly, but with the exhaust being either lukey or redback...that would mean its mandrel bent yes? |

well if it sounds good on yours it wil sound good on mine, coz i have an EL falcon too. how much did it set you back? |
i paid like 300 or around that for the 2.5 redback.. ive heard people getting it for cheaper, it is possible. It sounds like a i6 should and not trying to be something its not, youll get a nice warm tone from the redback ..
I run duel fuel on my car, when you run on petrol you get some nice lite back fires when you rev the engine , but not much on LPG. not to mention abit of a power gain. |

it's either 200 for a hi flow one or 200 for a hi flow one.
i don't know how many time it has been said or how many time we have had to get out the dyno sheets to prove it.
