Anyone know any tricks on how to change my high beam lights on my XH XR6 ute. It looks like Im either going to dismantle half the radiator to get to them or take off the front spoiler, either way it looks like a prick of a job.
Also, just saw some sweet rims at www.customwheels.com called "Barbs", anyone else seen them or know some prices, bloody nice looking rims. |

Hi Clayton,
I actually just changed all the globes in my EL XR and yes it is a real s**t to do. But, after cursing and swearing at Ford for making it so damn difficult on a fairly common car, i started undoing bolts. You do have to undo a bit of the front end to get to it, namely every visible screw...
I started with the black shroud, then worked my way at all the others from there, but if its of any help, i only had to undo them to be able to move bend and shift them a little to stick my big hammy fist in there
You still get a few cuts and scratches to the hands, but i got at it from both sides with one hand either side of the light coming in from the front just in front of the radiator, and also near the battery/airbox.
It took me about an hour or two to do it, but i am no mechanic or panel beater, so i am sure anyone who knows what they are doing and what goes where will do it quicker - but its still a b**ch... Hope my lights arent faulty now that theyre in there
Good luck |

I don't have XR lights, but still had to remove the battery, and battery 'shroud' to get to the driver side low beams.
Even when I didn't have to remove anything, you need to be double jointed or a contortionist to manage it. |

| with the xr light if u could imagine changing the globes anothe 20cm into the front bar then u can imagine it very difficult, i think the easiest thing to do would nearly be take the front bar off |

Yeah as i said, you have to undo a bit of stuff but getting the whole bar off wont help any more than loosening everything. The main framing across the front would still be in the way even with out all the bumper on there.
Have fun |
