Hi all,

As the heading suggests i finally got to the drag strip and ran my
JMM Dev5 EL falcon!

But before i tell you what my time was i will just explain that i have moved from VIC to far north QLD (Mackay). I never had the chance to run
it in MELB which im really disappointed about.
So for those of you who i have met on cruises and at DYNO days i will take the chance to say it was good to meet all of you!

Now back to what you want to hear!

I have had 8 runs now and the best i can manage is a 15.021 at 94mph.
Not what i had in mind when i set about my project......but i cant complain
given that maybe due to the difference in humidity between here and VIC...maybe i have been robbed of my 14.9?? anyways let me know what you all think!

I will try and get a copy of my time slip on file and post is asap

Hmm.
Is it auto?
Because if that is manual that is a really really really bad time.
To give you an idea my bone stock EL2XR6 5 speed ran 15.24. And as we all know a dev 5 kit is not cheap, at all, so to only be pulling .2 better is not really value for money.
That said, if it is a stock BTR 4 speed auto it's not bad. Pulling out the back seat, spare tyre, passenger seat, some nice grippy tyres and on a cool day should crack the 14s.

A DEV5 should be good for at least a mid 14.....some relatively stock cars have run that time

manual conversion, or at least a shift kit + 3.7 gears will get you where you want to be.

94 mph is telling me that you have enough power to get a 14.4 to 14.6.

What it is also telling me is that you are not getting down there quick enough. 3.45 diff ratio is not good enough for the strip. You need 4.11 or 3.9 diff ratio , lsd , hi stall converter and a tune.I think that you will get 14.5's with that combo.

What was your 60 footer,330footer etc?

Yeah that's pretty poor for a DEV5. I can't think of any ETs for guys running hipo NA 6 autos off the top of my head, but I guess the auto is really holding you back. I'd have though about a 14.8 was in order, and a mid to low 14 for a manual

I run a 15.5 in my EF XR6 manual with only extractors and 2.5" exhaust and K&N filter.
I should be getting less than that with a manual.

I would of thought a DEV5 would of get into the mid 14s with an auto and low 14s with a manual.

Something wrong with that Dev5.. something very wrong.
94mph tells me it got an honest 145rwkw.. max.

i got a 15.2@91mph with ordinary tyres.
did you stall it up enough, how grippy are your tyres, how much fuel was in it, did you run a spare tyre?
i would have thought you'd run at least a 14, although it's very close.
it leaves room for improvement next time though.

the speed sounds about right for a dev 5 equipped falcon.. although taking into account your virtualy flat 15 sec time with an auto does sound about right... have seen a dev5 equipped EF fairmont at wsid doing similair speeds and also flat 15s with an auto.. go a manual conversion or hi-stall..

No offence taken, I can't take off very well. I've never done a burnout in my life. I very much need launch practice.

My time was on 235/45 tyres at 40psi with 1/2 tank of fuel with spare and jack and everything.
