|
|
Hi,
I have a 97 EL which used to run petrol as well as LPG a month ago.
I tryed to run Petrol yesterday, but the car switched off after a couple of seconds of struggling to run on petrol. I tried to start the EL on petrol, which it did for a couple of seconds and died. I think it may be the fuel filter as it only runs for a short period.
Could somebody please help..... |

| fuel filters cost like $5.00 and can be replaced at home, so give that a go! |

It might be obvious but did you keep retrying to run it on petrol?
It could be there's still plenty of residual gas after the converter that needs to be drained out before it'll run smoothly on petrol.
Edit - besides, just bump the timing up 5 degrees and run it on straight LPG, it'll get pretty much the same power as 91 ron petrol... |

u might need to get your injectors cleaned as they can clog up if you dont run petrol through them enough |

Your fuel should continue to flow in a loop through the fuel rail, otherwise it would be a slow to switch over to petrol each time and most probably stall.
Your problem is most likely dirty injectors, a mate tells me - "a litre of metho in your tank will clean the injectors better than any injector cleaner, old RACV trick". However I never got to try it on my old duel fuel EA. So I don't endorse it. |

| Yeah the fuel pump isn't making a noise so its something wrong with that i reckon. Also, where can i find the Fuel Pump relays and fuses to make sure that they are not stuffed up by 'jumper starting' the fuel pump. If some has a picture, i would greatly appreicate it. |

fuel pump relay is under your coolant tank. Its an odd shaped green relay from memory. |
