Hey Guys,

Decided to install and base tune the MoTeC myself in the Waggin, once the Fairmont is back on the road.

I'll be making a plug in harness to plug directly into the existing 104 EEC-V ECU loom, so i can switch between EEC-V and MoTeC while im doing the install, incase anything goes pear shaped icon_biggrin.gif

The setup for the MoTeC is quite extensive, and there are a few settings which im unsure of at this point.. the list will grow icon_smile.gif

The Ref/Sync mode. I'm assuming this is talking about the TFI module output (if running dizzy) or in my case, being an EF, Cam Angle Sensor.

My options are:

0 : 1 Tooth per Firing
1 : 1 Dual Edge
2 : Multi Tooth (More than 1 tooth per firing)
3 : 1 Additional tooth twice per cycle
4 : 1 Additional tooth once per cycle
5 : 1 Missing tooth twice per cycle
6 : 1 Missing tooth once per cycle
7 : 2 Missing teeth twice per cycle
8 : 2 Missing teeth once per cycle
9 : 2 Missing teeth four times per cycle

There is also a 'Custom OEM' option, which says 'Ford BA'. Do they use the same technology? If so, I'm set icon_biggrin.gif

-----

Next up is Crank Ref Teeth. Since I have the wonderful Crank Angle Sensor mounted on the front of my timing cover, I guess option 0 (not used) isn't what I want. How are the teeth set up on the crank?

The MoTeC options are:

REF/SYNC Mode 2

The number of teeth per crank rev

REF/SYNC Modes 3 & 4

The number of teeth excluding the additional tooth.

REF/SYNC Modes 5 & 6

The number of teeth including the missing tooth.

REF/SYNC Modes 7 to 9

The number of teeth including the two missing teeth.

----

Mmkay, next .. Trigger Edge. Fall or Rise? Or can I use an OEM Spec, such as 'Ford SAW'

----

I think with that stuff set, I should be able to atleast start the car icon_smile.gif

Okay.. Just thinking aloud and documenting my thoughts here.

Been reading a nice article on the EDIS system (The Ford Coilpack) and I've found that it does use SAW, so I think i've answered my own question regarding the trigger edge.

Quote:

The SAW (Spark Angle Word) is analguous to the SPOUT (Spark OUT) line on Ford TFI-IV systems. The interface is different though.

Instead of regurgitating it all here for you, i'll refer you to page 17 of 27: "EEC ignition and timing control"

Hopefully this helps. Good luck mate.
