Hi Guys, when I lock up with the remote, the doors open again on their own & horn beeps! I have to lock with the key sometimes. This seems to only happen when the car has been in the sun too long, sounds funny but true!! I hope someone can help! ....Regards, brenjabu.[/b]

The smartlock system is pretty good and the actuators are common and easy to service. I have repaired mine before easily.

what happens is the grese in the door mechanisims drys out, and makes it hard for the acuators to move them into the lock position, i have found if you spray them with a dry lube like dry glide, comes in a green airesole basicly its graphite in a tin... the same stuff you spray in the window guides to help the windows to go up n down easily..

dry glide worked for me. Efs were prone to playing up in hot weather even when new. Hadnt heard it with el`s though.

My ef smartlock is playing up also. Driver door actuator doesnt seem to work at all, so when i try to lock the car with the fob, the other doors try to lock, it detects that the drivers side hasnt moved, so they all pop back up and my horn goes off. It only started happening after my batter went flat...

I might just pull the door apart and blast it with some silicone lube or something.

Hey guys, search actually worked out for me for once.
MY AU is having this same problem. It just started today. I go to lock the doors and it makes a mechanical noise four times and then the horn beeps at me. Seems like it's the driver's door that won't lock. Do I actually have to take the door apart to fix this?
