There has been some discussion recently about BA sound systems but two questions i have are; 1- Is there much trouble fitting and wiring up a subbie? and 2- anyone successfully upgraded the front door speakers? , if so with wot?

Definately worth doing.

Not that hard just off with the door skin, a couple of hours worth of sound deadening then in with the replacement drivers.

You will need to use a level convertor for geting low level inputs to your amp for the sub. Dont buy a cheap line level convertor though you will regret it down the trasck with crap sound and interferience.

pyroay (aaron?) you gotta give us some clue about your new project... do you know if the wiring in the BA is good enough for SQ... or would you re-run some 4 guage

I would definately run 4 gauge to the back for amplifiers.

Project is not a BA, lets just say that. It is nothing as wild as trhe previous car it's just something for my wife but with a couple of "PYRO" mods.

Ok a little bit more info, it's an E-series, will be finished the stereo in about 2 months, will be BETTER sounding than my current car with moer boot space and a few unique aspects (1 in particular).

It's an Auto with Extractors and 2.5" exhaust other than that no engine mods.

I'll start a new thread later for it as a project showing all the stereo progress photos (there are plenty), with some handy hints to other e-series owners about how some things can be done with this model.

Go to Jaycar & buy a little gadget that can convert your normal speaker wires into RCA outputs. Then you can amp all your speakers. icon_razz.gif You can even run an sub with the stock headunit. Works a treat I've gone 139db in a AU still be able to use the Factory volume controls.

Line level convertor..... is its title or LOC for short.

Make sure you get a reasonable one as the cheaper ones often have problems with them not to mentionr educde sound quality. I have 2 i got custom built by David Navone in the US if your interested.
