Over the last couple of days I have been busy converting the EF from Auto to Manual. There are a couple of doco's available explaining the process, but I thought I would write one with pictures to make it that little bit easier.

If there are any amendments that need to be made, let me know and I'll fix them up.

Anyways, hope this helps a few people out.

Cheers,
Dave.

well done Voxace icon_smile.gif. I'll leave it in pdf format for now as it will take a lot of work to convert it to fordmods friendly html.

/moved to tech documents forum!

I'll also credit you as a Technical Contributer, thanks again for a great doco!

good job. the gear shifter looks like its the early e series one (ea-ed) for anyone doing this on an ef you will need the one for ef's (it has a noticable bend in it) for it to fit on the ef gear boot and ef knob. just a suggestion

Nice work on the DOCO for the auto to manual conversion!

Just what i needed to read to see how hard it will be to convert my Auto EB II to manual. My Auto is not in great shape, so i was thinking of swapping in a manual.

It looks rather easy, if you don't pull the dash out to swap in the factory manual peddle box. That i would say would be the hard part!

Cheers

Your right, it might be a good idea to add it to the guide.

Nice inclusion.

I picked up an ED with a 5spd at the auctions today, so i'll be doing the swap as soon as i get my mighty boy back together. Which will probably happen in the next couple of weeks, i picked up the final bits for the engine today. I think i'll change the factory peddle boxes over instead of modifying my auto peddle box, if i do i'll take some pics if anyone wants them.

Cheers

Take a few pics and write a doco!
Would go hand in hand with my guide for those who feel like swapping pedal boxes over.
Also handy for all the countless manual pedal boxes that break and need fixing.

Ok i will do. I just literly got the ED GLI into my driveway, it's too damn hot to be doing stuff like that, but it had to be done. I'll be taking some pics of bits & pieces soon, such as the clutch peddle, as i don't know yet, but it may have a broken peddle box, as the peddle is on the floor. I couldn't get under the dash to look at that at the auctions, but I don't mind fixing it tho. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm thinking about putting my Auto & engine into the ED and reselling it when i'm done, as there is very little damage to the car besides it needing a new drivers door & guard. So maybe i can also write a little section on wiring mods to fit an auto to a factory manual car, lol.

Cheers

Should be the same. Wire colours could possibly be different.
