|
|
I have a BA XT and i was driving last night at 1/4 tank full, parked my car, went for dinner, came back, started my car, and my fuel tank read FULL TANK!? Even the digital meter reads that i have 300++ km range left.
I'm a new ford owner, so is this normal or is something wrong?! Need advice! |

| Its a sender problem, same as when you have half a tank then the next time you turn your car on the gauge reads almost empty. All factory LPG fords have that problem since the AU and possibly even before then. |

there is now (released maybe 2-3 months ago) a new level sender for both AU and BA vehicles that fixes the problem... |

It's not just the sender ... it can also be dirty contacts within in the loom ... there are about 2-3 TSB (Technical Service Bulletins) for different fuel gauge issues.
I found last time I had this issue I unplugged all of the connectors and cleaned the contacts (PITA job on a ute as well) ... I find my ute needs the connectors to be unplugged and reseated again (due to dirt and water from under the car while driving).
Other issues are due to faulty senders .. and the other issue can be due to faulty floats inside the tank(s) as well.
Easiest thing to do is unplug all connects on the LPG loom around the tank(s) and clean contacts.
APA gauges senders are not cheap ... I have replace both on my ute at around $130 each sender. |
