Hey guys, ive got 2 questions for ya's...

1) My car has a slight flat spot on idle, only when u press/tap the throttle fairly quickly though. It doesnt do it when you slowly depress the throttle?

2) It feels like my car 'wanders' on roads with uneven surfaces, ie. on roads with potholes, manholes, gudders, and just general unever tar?
It got that bad tonight that i almost side-swipped a car in which i almost wandered into! icon_eek.gif

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks fellas'

As in you hold the wheel straight, yet the car steers its own course?

What tyres have you got? My tyres train track badly if they find a groove in the road or similar..

Answer:
1) Sounds like your Spark plug Leads need changing.
2) Might need a Front end wheel alignment. Car should go straight as an arrow still when you momentarily take your hands of the wheel.

True unless there is a heavy camber in the road.

Then it sounds like you need a wheel alignment.

That may just be the EEC settings. On heavy acceleration, the EEC will hold the fuel and timing maps in closed loop for 2-4 seconds before going to the WOT maps, meaning you are running fairly lean and don't have as much timing advance. This is done for fuel economy. IT could also be stuff like spark plugs or leads or a number of other things.

Mainly just the front right is bald on the outside!
The front left isnt too bad on the outside though, there's still tread left.

It feels like its getting worse?!
On a road with multiple potholes, the car is all over the frigan road!
Its pretty bad, worse than i originally thought! ..also feels like something is kinda loose through the steering wheel..

It feels kind of gutless, well not gutless, but not AS MUCH power as before? The spark plugs & leads are newish & clean.
I might get my mechanic to have a look at it sometime..
How much timing advance would you recommend running for a bit more performance? ..I only run BP Ultimate 98.

Easy fix, if you take corners fairly heavily have 1 degree of neg camber done by the tyre shop. What falkens are they? Sounds to me like they train track badly..

You could easily run 4 degrees advance if you run 98 octane, probably a bit more. Go to 4 then move 2 degrees at a time and take it for a run to see if its pinging or not. But probably a good idea to get a mechanic to check it out anyway and run the fault codes to see if there are any problems.

Dont you have to have a camber kit installed? Or do the el xr's already come with them?
Theyre Falken Ziex ZE-365.. u know 'em?
Trust me man, the car wanders really bad.. its kind scary! icon_eek.gif

How would i go about advancing the timing myself? Or is it best left to the mechanic?
How do i check the fault codes?

Sorry about all the questions, its just that ive upgraded from an old xf falcon to an elxr8 about 3 months ago now, and am still learning heaps about the new car! lol
