|
|
Ok campers,
I have an omvl gas system, was running a bit funky (with the auto), so i followed the tuning guide here (after converting to manual). Got it to idle very well. I have also converted to a manual setup, not running a manual ecu, so it is tricked into thinking it is in neutral.
Problem No 1.
idles fine,
runs at highway speeds ok, but seems to stop suppling gas after 10mins (at highway speed), just gets really spluttery and looses speed, causing me to switch to petrol and gaining all power again.
Problem No 2.
this one has me stumped, car idles fine (have tried a fair few sensitivity srew settings), it free revs fine, but put it in gear and start to release clutch and it gets REALLY spluttery like there is SFA gas going through, and doesnt go anywhere.
any help would be great, as im now doing 80km each way to uni 4 days a week i need it running on gas.
p.s. sorry for the essay
Cheers,
Rushed |

I'd be checking the filter in the lock off.
Also, is it a brand new convertor? |

It will either be bronze or a paper filter.
I'll try grab a pic as i have a lock off that's removed from the car.
If that turns out ok then i'd definately be taking a good look at your convertor. |

| One simple thing i totally over looked and that's water flow, as soon as she starts to run s**t, pull over and see if the convertor is hot. |

Hot is good. Cold is bad. If it gets too cold the convertor will freeze and the car will run s**t/stop.
cheers

this "filter" is assue your saying its in the lock-off inbetween the gas tank and convertor?
or the one between the convertor and the throttle?
any help would be great as not having gas is killing me. |

The lock off is usually within 6 inches of the convertor. The gas line from the tank runs upto the lock off, then it runs to the convertor.
There is no lock off between the convertor and the TB. |

| The first pic is the servo or stepper motor not a lock off. Picture 2 looks like the filter below (to the left of) the lockoff solenoid. |

| Number 2 is the one your after. Undo the bolt underneath and the bowl and filter will come out. Have a look at the bottom of the bowl to see how much s**t the filter actually pulls out. |

so the filter is the that brass cup?
prosess of doing this?
turn tank off, raun car on gas till stall, then any tips from there?
p.s. i assume the filter is not reuseable, so where do i get a new one (part no?).
p.p.s. i have been informed it could be a tear in the diaphram inside the convertor is this a possibility? |

| Yep turn the gas off at the tank and run the car as you said. I crack the fuel line to make sure there is no gas in the system. You'll find an oring under the bolt and around the top of the bowl so be careful of those. Then either blow the filter out or replace (better option) and give the bowl a cleanout. |
